Did anyone else come? It was amazeballs. Johns had free icecream and I love the campus and the course I want to do and the fact that it won't matter if I don't have my licence because bicycles pwn. :3

I think today really confirmed my decision to come to ANU. :)

Not surprised you haven't heard of it, it's located in Canberra.

Thought that was an actual page from Wikipedia for a sec ^
... too tired for this shit.

The city was designed by an elderly British man to trap tourists in an arcane and diabolical web of roundabouts and eye-sores, commonly known as "government buildings" or "private schools".

I'm pretty sure I remember you having the same reaction when ANU got mentioned on #atarnotes once :P

If you have any particular questions I (or one of the other users at ANU) can probably answer them too. But yeah, if you're considering ANU, it's probably best to fill out a UAC application and an accommodation application pretty soon before you forget.

Re: accomodation application. I won't be able to afford to go to ANU until 2015. (lol)
I'm not really sure how it all works yet but can I / should I apply now for accommodation?

Though UniLodge men have a propensity to dress in women's clothing and fairy wings and local political power brokers are often seen leaving via a fire escape incognito in dark sunglasses around 3am, residents still take pride in not succumbing to many of the problems plaguing older campus residences. John XXIII College, a Catholic residential college for example is known to experience outbreaks of AFDSRC (Alcohol Fueled Drunken Sex Resulting in Crabs) Syndrome. Epidemiologists at the John Curtin School of Medicine and lost, horny post-grads from Burgmann note that these outbreaks are seasonal, occurring around O-Week and exams. They have identified the need though for further empirical research into the transmission vectors and risk factors.

I'm not even technically on-campus and I feel like having a car would be a liability. Canberra is great for cycling.

What course do you want to do?
2012: VCE - 99.10
2013: PhB(Sci)@ANU

Well...uh yeah, I came over to look at PhB Arts. :)  A 99 is a big ask I suppose, but seeing ANU has motivated me to keep working hard because that course looks friggin amazing.

EDIT: of course I have back up plans, etc.

Backup plans, schmackup plans.
No safety nets needed because you've got this!

(But seriously, backup plans are a good idea)

That's great! The PhB is awesome.

My backup plan was to do the BSc(Adv) at ANU and then transfer into the PhB, haha. I even changed my VTAC preferences to something silly, I think it was a diploma of animal technology or interior design or something like that.
Luckily I just snuck in...
Let's hope you don't have to invoke your backup plan!

I'm sure you'd love ANU, and as Laser said above, there are a few of us on here who will happily answer any questions you have about the uni, I know I was pestering the older ANU people on here at about this time last year :P.

I can't find anything on the ANU accommodation site that mentions this, other than people who have deferred their studies are still eligible for the first year guarantee. I would imagine that it's probably worth applying anyway, you know just in case you land a scholarship, but give ANU Accommodation a phone call (I found that they were slow when it came to replying emails, but that could have just been due to it being December/January busy period) and ask about it.

Thank you so much!

The backup plan is UoM Arts, which I don't think is such a bad backup plan. :P
