Can you replace potassium nitrate with potassium hydroxide in a salt bridge? Why?

Thank you, thank you!

Hydroxide ions have poor solubility generally and will precipitate with many metal ions, like Fe(II), Fe(III), Zn(II), Cu(II) etc. It will therefore deplete the concentration of the metal ions and thus interfere with the normal operation of the cell.
Potassium nitrate is used as both potassium and nitrate salts are generally very soluble in water.
