Hey guys.

Looking at getting into a Business degree next year (likely to eventually major in Accounting). I currently have both a scientific and a graphing calculator (Casio Classpad) at my disposal. I have a close friend who is taking up Further next year, and she has asked me if I can sell her my graphing calculator.

Should I hold onto my current graphing calculator for next year, or will I get by with just a typical scientific calculator?

You generally won't be allowed to use a graphics calculator in exams for most commerce subjects at uni, so I'd say you'd be fine with just a scientific calculator.

I still tend to use my CAS calculator at home for doing homework and stuff, but that's just personal preference; I've bonded too much with my CAS to part with it. :P

I'm actually doing that course; BBus (Accounting). Just to add to what Kuchiki already said, you'd need to get your scientific calculator approved by the BusEco faculty for use (it's just a sticker on your calculator), because otherwise they don't allow you to use it. And if you end up taking any finance units in your degree, definitely consider buying a financial calculator. I haven't really used my graphics calculator in uni so far, other than in the first-year compulsory stats unit.
