How hard is it to keep a 75% average at RMIT?

I'm most likely going to do Statistics at RMIT, focusing on maths subjects like calculus, linear algebra etc. To transfer into Science at UoM, I need a 75% average throughout all of first year uni.

How hard is this to attain? Can you compare a 75% average in first year maths subjects to an xx study score in maths methods or specialist maths?

I'm really worried because a lot of my friends who got similar ATAR scores to me are now struggling to pass a lot of university subjects... What sort of ATAR range would someone with a 75% average in first year uni usually have gotten? Can you make any comparisons for me, just so I have a general idea of how hard it is?
2012 ATAR - 86.75
2013 ATAR - 88.50
2014: BSci (Statistics) at RMIT
2015 - 2017: BCom at UoM

I did an engineering math subject last year that encompassed everything you mentioned and the like.
To be honest its nothing that bad to worry about. If you have a methods or specialist background it will all seem like revision to you even if you didn't do so well in them in VCE (me lol). You don't go into depth in first year math so you should be fine :)

lol honestly hard to give an accurate approximation but I would say a 75% average (if you have background knowledge) is about a 30 (raw) in methods, without background knowledge, well, I don't know maybe a 40 raw?

Thank you for that information! My negotiated offer to do Statistics at RMIT just got approved, so it looks like this is going ahead.

That doesn't sound so bad. I think that that is achievable for me :)

I hope that all my subjects are maths subjects, because if I have to do business/commerce subjects as well, it will probably worsen my chances of maintaining a 75% average.

One other quick question: should I accept my Monash offer before it expires? Or should I just ignore that offer and wait for the second round to get my RMIT offer?

Do maths at monash! If you accept your offer you can do MTH1030 and MTH2010 and maybe STA1010. Study score is not an indication at all. My friend got 33 in spesh and he was pretty much acing those units above. I got pretty average scores and managed to maintain ~67% average in the first year. You can definitely get ~90% average at those 3 units
2012 ATAR:88.90

2013-2015 Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and Science (dropped in 2015)
2015-2017 Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)

Study scores have nothing to do with it, but if you don't work hard and prioritize your studying, you probably won't get the average needed. It'll come down to hard work.

The only offers I have are for Arts/Science at Monash and for Statistics at RMIT. I want to go to a city university because I found a job in the city that I really don't want to quit, plus I'm prepared to move out and rent a room there at a student accommodation. And statistics at RMIT is more similar to doing BSci at UoM, majoring in mathematics and statistics, so hopefully it makes it easier for me to transfer.

well in that case, the only thing I can say you can easily manage 75% average and perhaps even more..dont worry :) the ones who fail are the ones who put less or no effort at all...
