*URGENT* Does the hard drive of a laptop consist of EVERYTHING?

Seems like a stupid/obvious question here but I'm a noob  . Anyway, does the hard drive contain everything? Like every single program, folder and even hidden little files? Also, when you do data recovery onto an external hard drive, does EVERYTHING from previous laptop get copied over or can you choose what you want to recover lol? Thanks.

Aint no troll man. You kinda misunderstood my question, i made it kinda confusing anyway plus i found my answer through other sources anyway after making this post.

99% of the time, yes. And I would hazard that if your scenario were the 1%, you'd know about it.

If you have a SSD, then you'd probably have files on there as well. In that respect, the hard drive would not contain absolutely everything.
