Standard GAMSAT, Melbourne weighted would bring it down to something like 64-65.

Going to resit it and improve on my S2 score though. I think exam pressure got to me there.

It surely does feel exhausting thinking about those summer holidays spent revising instead of being outside like everybody else! Pretty strange that my highest score came from the sitting in which I studied least (September GAMSAT was smack bang in the middle of sem 2 week 8 with all its MSTs). I will never understand the GAMSAT and hopefully will not ever have to ever again.

Also, just for measure, 6.7 GPA and 67 Melb weighted GAMSAT were the average scores for interview offers at Melb last year so that it definitely not a bad score for a first sitting.

vea, did you spend most of your time writing essays and doing Des for GAMSAT UK? I think I'll just go through the ACER papers and try to find more essays.

Yeah I did and the essays have definitely paid off with each sitting but for some reason (performance issues on the day?) my science scores have actually been decreasing a bit each time. My S1 score has been siting on the same number for the past 3 sittings over the past year and I have actually been reading a lot more articles on The Age and other places to improve my reading comprehension but don't seem to be able to make any improvement there.

I stopped reading literature because I didn't think it was helping me that much. I guess it really depends on the passages as well.

How did you manage to balance GAMSAT UK with uni? I had a pretty hard time juggling GAMSAT AUS with only three weeks of uni already LOL.

Apparently last year they interviewed 125% of available spots rather than 150%, so even though the average was higher you had a higher chance of getting an CSP/BMP/FFP offer I suppose

When you get your ATAR score, comparing scores on ATARnotes makes you feel stupid.

When you get your GAMSAT score, comparing scores on PagingDr makes you feel stupid.

PagingDr is horrible at the best of times, at results time it's even worse. Just stay away for a while. Good luck for all those getting their results :)

Seeing everyone talk about their results makes me regret not sitting gamsat back in march. I haven't had a chance to start prep for the uk one, hope it's not too late to have a good crack at it. good luck to those waiting to find out

Yeah I wasn't sure how much the reading was actually helping me but the results show that they didn't do much help lawl. As for studying for GAMSAT during uni, I tried to set myself realistic goals such as getting an essay done per week, revising a couple topics of science per week and stuff. Also helped that there was a week or so period right before the GAMSAT where I was free of assessments and able to completely neglect uni in favour of GAMSAT :P

Where did you hear this about them interviewing 125% of applicants rather than 150%? This is good news to me since I thought that 6.7 and 67 being the 'average' for interview offers would mean that they are the lower quartile scores for people who actually get a med offer.

I was lurking on the MD 2014 admissions chat on pagingdr and one of the posters asked someone from MDHS how many people they interviewed, and they said 125% of places.

Median would be a better stat to look at as we do see a lot of smartasses applying to Melbourne (the amount of 75+ scores I've seen on the offers thread homg).

I was thinking for my study plan:

Mid-July, begin writing essays and start with Des material (10 units of Des from each of the books per day)
August, concentrate on finishing Des and keep writing essays, while devoting more attention to uni (prob will spend like 5-6h a week on GAMSAT)
Late August/September, ACER.

That sounds like a good plan. If possible, try to form some sort of study group where you can help each other out with the discussion of essays, hard science questions and such. I definitely owe a lot to my friends for giving me ideas on s2 in particular. You should have no problem finding other motivated biomed kids! :)

Is a 66 normal weighted and a 65 Melbourne weighted cause for concern?

I'm talking CSP here too I might add. I'm not the Sultan of Brunei so I can't afford FFP.

I've seen that much info lately about what's good and what's bad and everyone I know seems to be getting in the 60s and fuarrrrk I don't understand any of it.
