[LSAT] Do you need a background in law to do the LSAT?

Title. I'm thinking of doing BEng & BArch/BComm next year so I wont have a law background. Is it possible to do (an succeed) in the LSAT without a BLaw?

Is the LSAT like the GAMSAT for Law?

Thanks!

Out of interest, where do you see yourself in 15 years time?

I could be mistaken, but I think I have seen you post about engineering, architecture, science, medicine, commerce, biomed, and now law. I don't really think it's feasible to truly have a passion for all those areas of life haha

ABSOLUTELY NOT MY FRIEND :D

The LSAT is the law school admission test.. its for people who dont have a background in law but have the 'capacity' to do so :)

I am gonna do the LSAT in 3 years- and i can tell u right now.. i have been practicing for it about 3 months now, and it is very learnable.. prac after prac after prac.. u will get the hang of it

Another good thing? Only Melbourne uses the LSAT.. but Monash doesnt.. to get in you need.. from the top of my head.. an average of 60%.. i forgot what exactly the GPA was.. across your undergraduate year :)

But law has a mass-overproduction of law students.. very very very hard to find a job

I don't know. That's why I'm asking you kind folk. I would like to do medicine (like everyone), but I'm starting to see how unlikely that is. That's why I'm trying to create a pathway that will keep me with heaps of options open. For example, if I seem to do well in BEng (+ something else), as well as someone trying to get into medicine would do (90 WAM/6.7+ GPA), I'm gonna switch into Science and go from there...

Thank you for your concern...

Hey mate...been a while!

Ohk...thanks for clarifying that. I can't do Monash JD because BLaw is a prerequisite. Yeah...maybe I'll see you in Melbourne JD haha! I suppose you'll have to be pretty good to get a job right of school.

BLaw isn't a prereq for the Monash JD or any JD that I know. Also there is lots of LSAT resources online  ;)

BLaw isnt a prerequisite for the JD.. they are basically the same degrees, who would do the JD if they already have a law degree? You can get into it with "A bachelor degree (or equivalent) with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.2 on a 7 point scale", just like melbourne uni, a bachelor degree from anywhere.

Some people in my biomed cohort have sat the LSAT and want to do the JD next year, so no, you don't need to have a background in law. That being said I have no idea what the LSAT is like

As said above, there is no difference between a BLaw and JD. It's literally almost the same as the difference between the MD and MBBS

Wow...thanks heart and _fruitcake_,someone said that and I believed it straight away (silly me). I should do more research.

Sorry everyone...I know I've been to all the faculty forums and I ask dumb questions...Thanks for everything!
