Why do holidays go so quick?

I know it's still Wednesday and there are still 4 more days left but seriously why do the holidays go so quick? It feels like the first week is all good and then by the time the second week comes I'm like, welp that's it. Practically time to go back to school/ uni again. Like, is this just me?

This is why the moments after the last class of the last Friday of the term / semester are some of my favourite moments of a holiday - because there's a true sense of distance between me and the next semester of painful suffering; - a whole 2 week holiday to look forward to!

I can finally socialise, exercise, eat healthy, and of course catch up on everything I need to for school

But when it actually comes to it, the holidays just fly by, and I'm left feeling like I've only been 15% as productive as I actually thought I'd be.

Is there a name for this syndrome? Does anyone else experience similar symptoms? LIke, for realz it's the worst I think I just need holidays until I'm bored to feel truly revitalised

Hey alevine,

Not sure if this was rhetorical but I'm going to treat it as if it wasn't. I completely feel your pain - it is a whole two weeks to get your life back and catch up, but also to take a breather. And that is exactly what you have done - probably in the wrong proportions but you can't study if you don't feel like it, it just doesn't work. (This is one reason why I always use to say I was having a "revision session" - much less negative connotations than studying ;D)

Lots of other people suffer from this and there is a name for it: Procrastination :P
Set yourself small goals, try to make learning your content fun but also give yourself a breather. Don't worry too much about your exercising and eating healthy - you have three months soon for that. I know that sounds bad but believe me. Also meet up with friends at least once a week and don't even mention school or studying there. Have some goal (maybe do it on Friday) to get you through the last push.

Oh and by the way - I don't go back until the 31st July so no it's not practically time for me to go back to uni again :D

Feels. I just realised that I have just over a week (maybe? Idk) left of the uni semester break and I've gone whelp as I've got nothing much left to do aside from read a dozen or so books, I swear this break has gone really fast hahah. :)
I've always thought it's just been me, so I'm uber glad someone else feels the same way. ^_^

I understand how you feel.
These two weeks have just flown by; in between going to ATARNOTES lectures, holiday homework and just revision I can't believe term 3 will start in less than a week. Almost there...almost at exams

Pretty sure almost every single person experiences this.
Really sucks. Even though I know at the start of the holidays that 2 weeks is not a lot and will fly by, I still manage to do little and procrastinate a lot. I guess this is just part of being human.

Time flies when you are having fun. If you really want to make your holidays feel drawn out as long as possible, you're going to want to wake up early everyday, be as bored as possible and stare at the clock as often as possible. This will make it seem like time is going incredibly slow and will probably bore you to death. I would recommend this if you love torturing yourself. Have fun! :P

Not that studying is fun... nor is procrastination.

FEEEELS!! Leaving school the last day of term 2 I felt like I was going to be so productive, and next minute it was Friday of week 2 :((( I think we put so much emphasis into how much we can do in 2 weeks, but if you relate it to how much you get done in 2 weeks at school it may make you feel a bit better!

All I can think about is Thanksgiving. I need a break from work.
