Hey guys

I submitted my UAC preferences a few days ago but want to change one of them. However, it says that they can't be changed right now.

When can I change them again?

Given this information, you should look up when the next offer round is. It is likely that after the next offer round you will be permitted to change it.

The UAC website says that change of preference is closed between midnight Sun 10 September and 7.30am Tue 12 September, so I assume they'll open up again after that :)

For School's Recommendation Scheme, what does it mean by 'institution specific documents'? Are these meant to be school records, or are they for individual unis and if so, where can I find information about what I need to include

I assume you were reading this http://www.uac.edu.au/srs/institutions.shtml and  http://www.uac.edu.au/srs/upload.shtml.

Institution specific documents means separate documents that the university requires you to complete.

Some universities require specific documents (click on the university that applies to you to find out what uni)

Apart from ANU, it looks like you don't need any "institution specific documents". :D

Great thank you! Also, does anyone know if for SRS we can just apply ourselves or do we have to let our school/careers advisor know

You apply this yourself.  There's a link to the right.
http://www.uac.edu.au/srs/

You don't have to tell the school, as from UAC "UAC will send emails to relevant school principals when students submit an SRS application. The email will contain a link to a login page where principals can access details of all SRS applicants from their school."

Hey! You might want to consider applying, then if necessary deferring the offer (assuming the institution allows). Then you can accept the offer later if you are here or decline it if you aren't (never any obligation to do anything with these sorts of things!)

This link could be useful: http://www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/offers/defer.shtml

Slightly related follow up: what are the disadvantages of just applying through the UAC next year rather than deferring?

You don't secure your position. Deferral guarantees that you will have that position ready for you.

Not being sure of whether you have your offer or not tends to be a very common worry among students.

Yeah ditto - If you are offered a place now why not take it! Even then not actually using that place next year doesn't carry any penalty, just nab the place while you have it ;D

Hey guys!
I was about to submit my app but saw that I had added an extra qualification which was the same as the automatic school one UAC provides. Is there any way I can delete the extra qualification or does it not matter?

Thanks!

2 questions -
For the EAS Application - do the extra selection points only go towards your highest preference, or all of them

Also, on the UAC key dates page, it has multiple offers before the ATARS are released and even before the actual HSC exams - are these just for early offers? Do our preferences at this stage even matter?
Thanks guys

Hi there =)
1st Q
The extra selection points go to ALL preferences, where the institution (uni) has EAS.
....
2nd Q

The offers before December 15 are actually early offer rounds. Your preferences matter IF you applied for early offers (ONLY APPLIES TO SOME UNIS).

*the dates on the second link are wrong...  but the information is relevant. "
**Refer to the 1st link for dates **

31 August 2017 August Round 1 offers released
14 September 2017 September Round 1 offers released
28 September 2017 September Round 2 offers released
12 October 2017 October Round 1 offers released
26 October 2017 October Round 2 offers released
23 November 2017 November Round 2 offers released
7 December 2017 December Round 1 offers released

GOod luck =)

There probably would be a way to delete, but I doubt it would matter. If you're concerned maybe just give UAC a call? ;D
