Hi guys,
Firstly, thanks for reading this It means a lot to me. This is actually my response for an extracurricular competition at my school, called the May Samali award. I need to answer the question - "What does public education mean to me?" and present why I have a "positive attitude to academic performance, leadership, community service etc. I would appreciate any form of constructive criticism no matter how big or small
Thanks so much,
Mish
Hey there! This was really interesting to read
I didn't go to a public school but I am a huge champion of secular, free, education. Yay!
You've written a great response. I think the only thing that's missing for me personally, based on my own perception of public education, is it's accessibility. I don't think you pushed the notion of accessibility and even playing field in education that everyone deserves enough. You could tie it in super well with your volunteering at the Sydney Story Factory (which is really cool, I'd like to know more!) and how you want to bridge the gaps in education and public education in Aus is a huge part of that!
