In year 10, I was able to get straight A's in Advanced Mathematics (I usually got between 91 - 96 on my tests, but my lowest was an 84 on trig), English, Biology, and Physics. In year 11, I'm planning to take Maths Methods, Maths Specialist, Biology, Physics, and Stage 2 English. How much more difficult will my subjects be in year 11, and will I be able to do similar to how I did in year 10?
Hey
,
The best advice I wish I was given is to try stuff out! What I mean by this is that Year 11 is a "Dummy" year that doesn't count towards anything and is more or less a practise run at the HSC year. I'm not saying that you should completely not try, but in fact the opposite. Try these things;
1. Try and find a new version of studying and revising. Whether it works or not you will find out in exams but try and find a more efficient way of doing things.
2. Try using a Study Timetable. These are EXTREMELY CRUCIAL in year 12, so practising one (even if its for 2 weeks) will help you find out what works for you.
3. Learn what Scaling and other big words mean (Assessment mark, Examination mark, Examination Rank, ATAR, UMAT, LAT) and try and find out how these things impact you, again this saves time and effort in year 12.
4. Do heaps of networking. If you don't know what this means then don't worry, but essentially bring together some of your contacts and start organising relevant work experience or volunteering relevant to what career you are aspiring to achieve. e.g volunteer at hospitals and aged care villages if your passion is medicine or health related professions.
5. HAVE FUN!!! This goes without saying, but many people take Year 11 way to seriously and end up regretting heaps of things in year 12. Remember it doesn't matter what MARKS YOU GET, but HOW TO IMPORVE THEM!!!
Wow that was a trek of typing, but I hope its worth it!
