Topic loops

When it asks you to write the line number for the topic loop this is really confusing :/

e.g.

2. Blah blah blah Jeff and I are going to take driving lessons.
.
.
.

45. Oh yeah those are some ugly goldfish,
46. Let's talk about them
.
.
.

101. Yeah, well you know how
102. Did I tell you that Jeff and I were going to
103. Take driving lessons?

Would the topic loop be at line 101 or 102? Technically 101 is where the topic shifts again... but 102 is where Jeff is mentioned again... which should be picked?

Just put both in to be safe. Maybe comment how the beginning of line 101 functions as a discourse particle which allows a topic loop to be made in line 102.

Hmm ok, because in a SAC there was a similar text and I put 101 but got no marks for it. Are you sure it's ok to put both in because my teacher said you have to be precise.

what was ur teachers argument?
that the topic was not mentioned until 102 and thus was not a topic loop until it was mentioned?

I think his argument was that 101 did not have the same semantic theme as the previous topic, you had to get to 102 until that came along...
