Hi,

I’ve been reviewing the important case studies that are specifically mentioned in the syllabus and I was curious, what exactly did the stanford prison experiment actually prove in relation to status and power within groups?

I wouldn't use the word "prove" for it and there's a bit of contention around the Stanford prison experiment (e.g. Zimbardo encouraging the guards to behave antisocially) but it shows how being assigned an authoritative role (status) can lead to exercising power in cruel ways over those with lessor status.

I hope this helps!
