Can I use a grey lead pencil for the methods exam?

Are we allowed to use a grey led pencil for the 2021 VCE methods exam (such as the mechanical ones you can buy from the supermarket)?

In 2020, they left out the instruction to write in blue/black pen... (see attached) Does this mean they don't mind anymore?

Cheers and good luck everyone for tomorrow  :)

Hi RaspberryTau,

I’m pretty sure pencils (including grey leads) have always been allowed in the examination room. I think it’s on the cover page of all the exams I’ve seen. VCAA has even released the cover page for this year’s exams.

Exam 1: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/exams/exam-covers/mm1-cov.pdf

Exam 2:

I think a mechanical pencil is okay, as long as you have backup leads and it is not too thin. I usually use a mechanical pencil, but for the exams I have been getting used to using a regular lead pencil, just to make sure it is thick and dark enough.

Hope this helps and all the best for tomorrow!

My teacher told me if the inside instructions didn't specify, we could use pencil.

Best of luck for tomorrow, I wish I did methods instead of further.

Alright, pencil it is!

Thanks for your help! Hope all goes well for everyone....Fingers crossed we wont get anything like last year (that integration part in question 6 is doing my head in!!! )

Remember, if in doubt, choose D ;D

Hmm I was wondering... what is the most common answer option  VCAA use for their multiple choice questions? Or is there no pattern to it?

I’ve always been told, ‘if in doubt, choose C!’ Hmm…

Same, but I find every one of those really hard multiple choice questions - tend to have answer D.

I have heard that they often put a lower answer for questions where you sub the value in, (like closer to E than A), but who knows....

Hope all went well on Exam 1 today! It wasn't as bad as I was expecting....fingers crossed tomorrow isn't much harder!
