1/2 next year, best way to learn metalanguage?

Hi all,

I'm doing 1/2 eng lang next year, and I'm trying to learn all the metalanguage in these summer holidays. Just wanted to ask what are the best resources/methods to learn metalanguage. I've got the eng lang for senior students textbook- does that have basically everything I'll need for 3/4? Is running through the study design and purely memorising via the list enough?

Thanks

Hello Progenitor.

Metalanguage isn't really used that much in Units 1/2, but it's always a good idea to use it in some essays for your teachers to read over.
Memorising the study design isn't enough though. You need to find examples of metalanguage and know when to use them all in your writing, and how to point them out in texts. Speak to your teacher about it, if you can about how you can do it.
If you have the textbooks, that's good too and maybe consider getting a tutor if you really want to
