Why is it that most textbooks say "We have a solutions manual if the instructor wants it [but not students]" ??
Isn't that a bit retarded?

Makes it easier for grading things. And solution manuals usually aren't available through bookstores or anything, you have to order it.
That being said, I managed to find the solution manual to an ODE textbook online. Handy for me though because it's the textbook for the course I tutor :P

Lol I had to go to a russian site to find the instructors manual for 'introduction to electrodynamics' - Griffiths

There was so much fake stuff out there, for instance solution manual torrents that are 80MB

It's weird how they would put so much work into a solutions manual but not allow anybody but instructors to use it (and some don't even charge instructors for it)
