Deferment

Hey guys, I have a serious problem. In 2010, I'm required to perform National Service for my country meaning I'm going to be away for 2 YEARS!!!
I've read about deferment of courses in the RMIT website but it says that the maximum deferment length is 1 year. Will they be flexible about this? What else can I do? Anyone have similar problems or experiences?

I had similar circumstances (2 years of National Service). I wrote requesting a Leave of Absence for 2 years and they granted it. So it's all good. Granted, mine was at University of Melbourne, but RMIT shouldn't be any different.

Oh no it's a completely separate thing from deferment. Leave of absence allows you to take leave for more than a year, as long as it is justified (and national service is most certainly justified). Though I can't really claim to know about how it works in RMIT.

And yes I'm Singaporean.
