^yeah but i would like to study at melbourne

also can someone help with the bachelor of biomed/engineering (civil or materials) .. it only satisfies 2 prereqs in second year but in 3rd year it has an approved subject to satisfy the third one... is that okay or would it still not be acceptable?

I'm not too sure if this is any help but have a look at this link: http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/courses/3879.html

If you look down at the page, it tells you what units you have to complete or what units you can pick up. Hopefully this helps.

really? does that mean after you graduate from biomed, you're in fact a pharmicist already?

I don't see why you'd be bothering with prereqs, as having them won't really increase your chances. You only get 1 interview for graduate medicine, being eligible for UoM won't affect your ability to study at deakin/monash/other universities.

So you can actually, yknow, apply to UoM...

I'm a big fan of the melbourne science degrees now, i used to hate them but i think its good how you can have 2 majors in the 2nd year and you don't really decide till the 3rd.

Just so you know, this is pretty much the same in biomed; essentially all the majors are an option until the end of 2nd year when you need to choose one.

Quote
From my schools bulletin:

Read it carefully, underrep school does not give you the 88 entry (i can confirm this from UoM's point of view as well)

If you're talking about MD at UoM, they don't care WHEN the prereqs are done, only that you've completed them.

:) yeah thats where i looked, none of them have all 3 subjects that are needed in the second year though :(

Monash's biomed/eng double degree covers ALL pre-requisites needed for every pgrad course listed above (the ones after biomed@uom), aside from optometry which needs physics/optics or something.

The second year anatomy, physiology, biochemistry units needed for dentistry, medicine etc are covered, 100% sure

So if you decide to end up doing eng, monash is 4 years, melb is 6
with medicine and those pgrad courses, monash and melb courses converge and you end up with same course anyway.

so if you're unsure, i'd say biomed/eng cos then you can get a taste of both at the same time before you pick one, whereas at melb, you don't get to taste eng until you enter into the pgrad and then if you don't like it, you'll waste more time and money transferring out

And you'd want to do this why? If your GPA/GAMSAT is good enough for UOM, it'll prolly be good enough for deakin. You only get 1 interview, 1 chance to get in. Having UoM on your pref list for ACER won't increase your overall chance of getting into med.

If they're not high enough, put Deakin or Monash at preference 1. If they are, put UoM at preference 1.

I fail to see why you think taking the prereq subjects is a bad idea...you're not locked into applying to UoM and you can only have more choice this way.

Yeah that doesn't matter, the 3 subjects are still done, doesn't matter 2nd or 3rd year... you could do them in your 20th year even
