Beyond reasonable doubt

I fully understand why a unanimous jury verdict is required to satisfy the standard of proof when convicting but I question why a 7-5 not guilty verdict cannot acquit. Surely that is reasonable doubt. Any law student opinions?

too much variance in a small sample size
2010 - 2013: Bachelor of Software Engineering - Monash (completed w/ alternative exit to B. Comp Sci)
