Commerce: Monash vs UoM

Hey
I am interested in doing commerce.... majoring in finance and accounting

my question to you all is.... would it be better to do commerce csp at Monash in these fields.... or at melbourne paying fees

money is not much of an issue but obviously id rather spend less if I could help it .... but If melbourne is significantly better in terms of getting a job and other things then money doesnt really matter

In conclusion: Right now I'm thinking Monash because of the money, but is there any reason which makes melbourne better... do business firms look at the prestige of melbourne over monash

by the way, if I do it at Monash, I'd probably do it with a double degree such as economics or arts or science.... maybe even engineering if I got that high  (double degree comm/eng at monash is 95.1.... commerce alone at melbourne is 95.85 or something)

Thanks, Danke, Gracias, Merci, Arigato, Xie Xie. Toa Chie......

why does it have to be UoM full fee?

plus, its the new melbourne model right now, so... you should sit tight and wait for this year and see how the 09 entry is like before you make up your mind.

that and, it depends on how you want to graduate. UoM will be offering graduate programs after the new gen bachelor, that will certify you for that profession [but i dont think entry into graduate programs are guarenteed]. whereas monash you graduate certified from bachelors [full degree].
there are many options, it all depends on how you want to do it.

but, make sure you get a 25+ in methods :P

Melbourne Commerce graduates are highly recognised in the professional workplace as they tend to obtain higher starting salaries than the norm. Also, according to the Times Education Supplement, UoM is the best university in Victoria and the 2nd best (behind ANU) in Australia.*

lol if the choice is between Monash CSP and Melbourne Fee then Monash CSP wins hands down. It's not even a close contest.

The only situation where you might possibly consider it a close contest is if you want to study Actuarial Science, but you indicated that wished to study Accounting and Finance so this doesn't apply to u.

My first pref is commerce @ melbourne CSP

but incase I get between 90 and 95, im undecided for what to put as my 2nd pref (and thats what this thread is about)

whether it should be melbourne full fee or monash (with double degree csp)

but I want to know about job oppurtunities and stuff, thats more important to me then money

It doesn't really matter -- the federal government is eliminating full fee places from 2009 onwards.

As title suggests,

I'm looking for opinions from current students, which of these universities, Melbourne and Monash, have the edge over the other for a Commerce degree?

Providing a reason for your choice would be beneficial. :)

2008 ENTER = 97.90

BCom @ UoM - I love you Melbourne!

Ha ha, so true.

An unbiased opinion is going 2 b difficult 2 find gta, unless some1 has studied BCom @ both universities.

Personally, I like my uni tho, so I voted Monash.
