Despite the nature of the course itself, the impression is what counts, and I *think* it is safe to say that most employers will have a better impression of UoM. Bring the actual commerce students in here to get a better opinion though; I don't know much about commerce =T

Oh, I'd like to know this as well. Not in the same position as you, obviously, but I've just been reading Monash guides for the past couple of months, so I have no idea about Melbourne (aside from the fact that you can catch the number 19 tram to get there, lol).

If I were you, though, I'd take the monies.

You can get unbiased opinions.
I would say that as a general rule, science is better at melbourne. When you get down to specific areas of study, then you open up a whole lot of new avenues for debate and instances where both unis have their strong points (ie some of my units simply aren't offered at UoM in the first place).
I am fairly sure this same general rule applies for commerce (UoM *should* be better overall)

I know nothing about commerce, except for that acutarial studies thing is well-established at UoM and is just starting up at monash so if you wanted to do that go to UoM. The rest of it I dont know. :P

Reasons I think I'd choose UoM because...
1. Location
2. The variety of subjects available
3. The reputation
4. I like the atmosphere there
5. High possiblity of getting a good job after graduating

I guess it really depends on what area of commerce you want to specialise in, the location, and the likelihood of you actually getting a good job after graduating.

Don't get me wrong Monash is a great University, but due to it's location, I probably wouldn't consider attending the University.

Don't close it, I need an answer.

I'll try to add something relevant, as well.

Here's my list so far

UoM:
(+) location: it's somewhere i've been to a handful of times for lectures of various kinds and open days, so i already know how to get there. it takes less than an hour and a half by public transport.
(+) it'd make my mum happy.

Monash:
(+) i'm more familiar with its course structure.
(+) offers 한국말, and subsequently a place to go on exchange.

that's about it. ;_;

We need more input from people who are actually doing these courses.

Why not contact both Universities, ask them why you should attend their University.. see which one is more convincing LOL :D
