Methods is irrelevant to accounting, plain and simple. The hardest maths you'll have to deal with is plus, minus, multiply, divide. There is no calculus, trigenometry etc or anything remotely challenging in regards to maths.

Having said this however, being 'comfortable' with numbers is pretty crucial to succeeding in accounting. For me, I've found that difficulty arises not with the maths itself (as it is extremely simple), but in understanding why things are done and how to apply what you've learnt.
