uni maths

i have heard somewhere that VCE study score takes priority before uni studies
that's kinda sloppy, the uni maths increment is AWESOME, a 5.5 is a lot better than a 4.x

anyone savvy enough to please explain the reasons?

if what i head is true, that means i'll have to use the 2 subjects i do this year, and the 4 oncoming next year, and the uni subject will only be useful for credit transfers and advancement in my degree...
