Transfer from PhB to Law?

Is it possible to transfer from the PhB(Arts) into Arts/Law at ANU, assuming reasonable grades? I'm assuming it is possible, given that the entry requirements for the PhB are more stringent than those for Arts/Law.

I only ask because it would be reassuring to have a "backup plan" if the PhB doesn't go so well!

Yeah, shouldn't be too hard. Bear in mind though that you could be adding time onto your degree because of all the compulsory law courses.
VCE 2006
PhB (Hons) (Sc), ANU, 2007-2010
MPhil, ANU, 2011-2012
PhD, Princeton, 2012-2017
Research Associate, University College London, 2017-2020
Assistant Professor, University of Virginia, 2020-

Feel free to ask me about (advanced) mathematics.

I'm assuming that, if I transferred at the end of first year, I would take first-year law units in my second year... so yes, that all sounds a bit drawn out.
