This has been edited a few times, so I'm rewriting it.
Some of my folders are stuffed up like this example:

Some of my folders are stuffed up like this example:

Some of my folders work a-ok
The ones that don't work as they should, when I change the 'views' to other things (icons to list and vice versa), they are working normally in all other modes.
I checked all the places like my documents, pictures, music, video etc and that place seems to be the only one that is consistently normal. =/

i have no idea what you did, but this would be my fix in xp (i havent quite gotten to vista just yet)

goto control panel -> folder options (whatever you call that), and in one of the tabs "views" (there should be one) you can "reset folder views" (or something like that), hopefully that should get rid of both your problems...

LOL @ "sea drive" xD and Enter Calculators that are compiled by "artists" ;D ;D

I think someone's been messing around on your computer....

For the files:

- Try pressing shift while opening the folder.

- Right click on the file and click on Properties. Is there a file name (there's a trick where you can use a Unicode character that has no visible character as a file name ALT+255 I think it was).

For the folders:

- Right click > Properties > Customize [sic] tab > Change Icon > in file "%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll"  ----  give us a screenshot of the Customise tab please

If all else fails, some system files may have been corrupted. The best way to fix this is to either repair the installation or reformat and reinstall. Both options will require you to have the Vista CD handy.
