Welcome to the FSN Tech and Gaming Forum. Here's the place where you can discuss, ask for help or get an opinion on all topics technology related.

These are just simple guidelines we'd ask you to follow when posting in this forum.

Forum Rules - absolute musts

1. Any reference to pirate software, 'warez', cracking and the like will not be tolerated and will be deleted on sight. No Exceptions
2. As with point 1, any thing that could be construed as illegal under Australian law will be similarly removed. Your IP is recorded and will be handed over to law enforcement agencies if it comes to that level.
3. Please do not defame another person, or company. Whilst you are permitted to make factual criticism against any person or company regarding their products and services, people can and have sued for making misleading/wrongly critical forum posts - there is no guarantee of free speech in Australia. Posts of this nature may be deleted to protect the legal interests (and wallets) of the FSN administrators.
4. Please remember that persons under age 18 do read this forum - keep R-rated material (e.g., pornography) off this forum.

General Guidelines
Common Etiquette

- Say please, please? It will get your question a lot further as opposed to a demandingly-worded question.
- Stay on topic in regards to help / howto threads, as posts that begin to drift may be locked. We are trying to create threads of concise information for those that need it, rather than having to dig through hundreds of pages. Please feel free to create discussion threads in order to discuss said topics.
- Please don't post 'I don't know' replies to questions that you cannot answer (that said, if you feel you know another community / area that would be better able to answer to the question, particuarly for those obscure topics, then feel free to show them the way).
- In line with the above rule, please do not post excessively short and/or non-useful posts. If you don't have anything worthwhile to say, please don't.
- Bumping is acceptable if your post hasn't received an answer and has drifted off the first page of posts.

When posting a help question

1. Please use a detailed title: "HELP!" isn't as informative as "Problem with loading Windows"
2. Please use a new thread for addition issues you may have (if they are sufficiently distinct). This will help people find your post in future.
3. Please include the following:

- What operating system (e.g., Linux, Mac OS X, Windows XP) you are running
- Relevant computer specifications (if known - e.g., the video card model if there was an issue with it)
- Description of your problem - if you're going to write flowing text, please paragraph! Point form is fine.
- Frequency and reproducibility of issue - how often does it happen? Is there a certain step to meeting the problem or does it happen at random?
- Anything you did prior to this error occuring - did you install any software? Change any configurations?
- Relevant screenshots - use the 'Prt Scn' on your keyboard and paste into Paint. Include error messages and whatever else you think is relevant.

Also, this forum isn't to be used for technical support related to FSN. Private message an administrator for that. :)

Stay on topic, as posts that begin to drift may be locked.

That is an ineffective deterrent, as it punishes the community more than it punishes the poster.

The objective is to create concise threads for those dealing with issues.

I will probably make that point more clear. Thanks for your input coblin.
