is it that some members are "cocky" or others members have an inferiority complex? (lol there's my two cents)

I don't think there are that many people on here that come to show off, and as ninwa said most the ones that do have <10 posts and aren't important. When members do a difficult question and post it they generally aren't showing off, they're trying to help.

There's a difference between being a cocky intelligent and a humble one.

To be honest, I think most of the community here are quite humble about their relative intelligences. There are a few people, though, I would label as those with inflated egos. That is, of course, to be expected of an internet forum where some degree of anonymity is afforded.

I say, let them inflate their egos until they explode - they'll leave when they get bored.

everyone comes here for their egos. Is debating a form of "ego mastubation"? Hell yeah. Even helping others is, its just one that helps both you and others more than, say, bragging about how you aced an exam in 1/2 the allotted time.

heh, when I started posting on BoS to answer questions the only reason why I did it was because it was a form of human contact, which I so desperately wanted.

Since then people here became my friends and I only bother answering questions if I log in and see a thread like 4 hours old without replies. It's actually quite amazing how much the world can change within a year o_o

Many people on this board do decide to gloat their talents (or lack there of :)), but overall, it is a very humble society here at VN, which always makes me come here every night and experience insidious thoughts and feelings. People just love the atmosphere here, regardless of their egotistical attitudes.

But really, this is all ENWIABE's fault. He's just so dam smart, it's hard to live up to the big bad admin's intelligence.
