Not directly related to the question, but:

I would say that this is an infeasible concept. As any private company, the media's incentives will revolve around profit. This is directly related to its readership. In order to gain readership, the media needs to target its publications to appeal to the population. Therefore, in a majority left population, the media will generally be left-wing sided.

This thought also applies to the individual. It is not likely that they will read something that they are interested in.

I'm not sure I understand the question. "If you're a lefty you should consume right-wing news/books/films"??

Yeah, well is there any reason that you should? Haha.

Haha a mix is good.. as long as you're always keeping an open mind, and don't believe everything reported as 100% truth.

well, they say it's good to read opinions other than those you swoon with admiration over. Though you might just be reading opposite opinions to provide justifications for your current beliefs, so I'd say view those other opinions with an open mind. You might even find you agree in some areas with someone supposed to be on the other side of the political spectrum.

I dunno.
I'm fine with having left-wing and right-wing media. But I don't like watching right-wing media. I just get annoyed about how wrong they are :D
Need a bit of a mix though, to keep oneself educated, up-to-date and knowledgeable.

It's not good to discount an entire source, if it is quality reporting/writing, just because of your political views. [Not addressed at anyone]

I find that I can agree with different perspectives, too. I find it difficult to identify immediately if something is 'left' or 'right' unless it's extremely either way (e.g. socialist literature or Andrew Bolt or something), I don't think it matters.
