Hey hey hey! ;D
So here's something that's making me super, ridiculously excited: as of this month (February 2017), we're starting up a new Member of the Month Award!
Well two, actually, because there'll be one from Victoria and one from New South Wales. :D
How does it work?
Throughout each calendar month of the year, moderators will select a user that has been helpful, friendly, and contributes to the positive vibes of ATAR Notes overall. What does this mean, exactly? Well:
- Answering questions on subject boards;
- Creating great discussion threads (education-related or otherwise);
- Helping out new users;
- Writing guides (whether that be subject-specific, uni-related or whatever else);
- Being a generally top-end person.
The chosen member(s) each month will have a dedicated thread of gratitude for their work, and be rewarded with a MotM badge. ;D
Why is it awesome?
Fundamentally, because we as a community get to recognise those members who are making positive contributions - and I reckon that's absolutely the best thing. The other cool thing is that all it takes to be recognised is to keep on posting, keep on helping, and keep being generally fantastic. ;D
So if you think somebody is posting particularly well or has gone unrecognised for too long, feel free to articulate those thoughts in this thread. Otherwise, get excited for the very first MotM announcement, which will be coming up on March 1st!

And what a year 2017 was for ATAR Notes - just look at that names. Or perhaps even more pertinently, consider the users not formally recognised above - doing so will give a sort of indication of the strength of the community at the moment.
We recognised 22 users this year, and each has contributed to ATAR Notes meaningfully. We're currently in a new moderator drive, and both of our new moderators at time of writing (miniturtle and Quantum44) were selected as MOTMs this year.
I'm really excited about 2018. I can't wait to see who leads the community moving forward. :)
