Title: So this is gonna be interesting...
Post by: BrittyG on November 10, 2017, 08:58:56 pm
First off, I'm still finding my way around this site so forgive me if something goes wrong along the way, but I am really excited to delve into all the great resources that are here.

I guess I should start by introducing myself, Hi I'm Britt, I'm a freshly inducted year 12 student, actually I'm not even sure, I'm in the odd transitioning period where half the teachers are calling me year 11 and the other half year 12 so I don't know whats happening, what a start. Moving on, a bit about me I'm doing 6 subjects (11 units) for my HSC course and they are; Biology, Business Studies, Standard English, General Math, PDHPE, Studies of Religion I. My prelim report came in the mail today and I am currently sitting in the top 10 of all my classes except English and SORI, I'm pretty pleased with my results so far. I will be uploading my prelim notes once I edit and refine them and hope they are of use to other users. I'm doing this memo thing I guess so I can keep track of my HSC journey and for a little bit of procrastination, because who doesn't love a bit of procrastination right  ;). Anyways I'm a bit late to the party BUT, I am currently at the end of week 5, and I'm starting to get all of my HSC Task 1 assignments. The main thing that's got me rattled is that everything now counts all the in-class assignments and tasks count towards my HSC, sure the tasks may not weigh a lot but it still counts. My initial reaction is like welp I'm screwed can't get above 60% in English how am I going to 'smash the HSC'. The most common answer is, a lot of work and PRACTICE PAPERS, so I might give that a crack and let you all know.

So that's me and that's enough procrastination for today, it's nice to make your acquaintance, and I hope you enjoy following me along on my HSC journey.

Week 7 will soon be upon me and I am 2 weeks behind on all my subjects but Math and English. I have assignments and exams for all of my subjects except SORI and I'm feeling the pressure and for now on I'm going to make a breakdown count because I feel like there will be a lot of tears througout HSC as I stress myself out. BUT GOOD NEWS, I completed my first ever HSC task (general math) and I believe I did well!
I have PDHPE due this coming week Friday and haven't started due to all my catch up but I'm planning on starting it today and finishing it by Tuesday so I can get it proofread by one of my friends who is a PE teacher, but there are so many things going on inside and outside of school at the moment I won't even be able to scratch myself.
The following week Monday/Tuesday I have English (Exam AOS: Discovery) and Biology (Search for better health). I have a few weekend competitions that will limit the time I have to study and do assignments so I'm a wee bit stressed about that, but we'll see how I travel I guess. Well, that's enough procrastinating, I'm now off to do my PDHPE assignment.

Breakdown count: 8

Even though you're feeling overwhelmed, you have a really good grasp on where your assessments are, what they're for, and where you should be up to with class work - and that's super important. You've got your head around everything, you've just got to get your body moving through it all with you :) Be sure to acknowledge when you smash a task out of the park! I listed all of my assessments and then drew a nice satisfying line with a permanent marker through each as they were finished so I could visualise the process, and it served as a good reminder that I was making progress even when everything seemed to be in chaos! :)

I try my best to keep organised as I struggle even more when I can't get my head around what's going on. I definitely enjoy striking out all the assessments on my calendar.

Hello, it's me again,

First off, apologies are in order as I have not updated for last week, I have been super busy with assignments and my sports outside of school leading to my big competition. I am still uber stressed out and you betcha I have had some massive breakdowns in the last fortnight, there is a lot to catch up on, I left off on my incomplete PDHPE assignment and my English exam, so let's pick up from there. My PDHPE assignment was due on Friday 24th November after the whole class got an extension and I had been working on the task for the last week or so and had completed all of the components bar one which little did I know was the most time consuming involving a rehabilitation plan of a sport specific common injury and an evaluation of said rehab plan. I have officially pulled my first all-nighter of year 12. I stayed up until 5.30am doing this one section of the assignment so I could hand it in on time. My brother (Who has just completed his HSC a month ago) was flying out to Japan for his post HSC trip woke up at 4.30am to go to the airport and thought I had woken up to see him off, poor kid, I don't love you that much.

After completing my PDHPE task and handing it in I was mostly happy with what I had produced. I spent the weekend 1. procrastinating on studying for my English exam and 2. actually studying for my English exam. I had to prepare for an unseen question on discovery referencing Michael Gow's Away and one other related text in which I chose The Fault in Our Stars by John Green but the movie so I could watch it quicker, I also work well with analysing film techniques so it made sense. In the exam, I almost completed this task writing an introduction, Paragraph 1-3, 3 lines of Paragraph 4 and my conclusion, which I am happy with.

Following English came Biology which GOOD NEWS!! got extended until Friday!! BAD NEWS, I was away at my big competition on Thursday-Sunday. I had previously organised with my teacher to have the assignment emailed to her on the Friday night before 11:59:59pm but when it came to Wednesday afternoon (the day before I had left) and I still hadn't completed any part of the assignment due to training for my competition and other assignments, the Science coordinator yelled at me for not asking for an extension? I know right she actually wanted to give me an extension on top of the extension... Crazy. So I devised a plan of attack with my newly acquired extension (Until Wednesday 6th. I would forget about Biology Thursday-Sunday and focus on my Business Studies assignment due on Monday. Over the weekend, I was playing in a team of adults and was made fun of for doing my work and rightly so, who does any type of study at a competition. The answer is me, I studied the whole time at nationals why does this make a difference lol. I ended up finishing my Business Studies assignment on Saturday morning and working on some algebra equations for my general math exam on Tuesday (today).

So you know how I said I completed my Business assignment on Saturday well on Sunday morning I woke up to an email informing me that my business assignment has been moved to Wednesday 6th (same as bio) due to the industrial action strike on Monday. This whole time, I could have completed my biology assignment but wasted it on business. Monday I saw myself skipping school because of the industrial action and due to intense stomach pains, in this time I planned to get 2 parts of my biology assignment completed but failed miserably and only completed 1. I didn't bother studying anymore for math and will probably do a few questions and work on my biology assignment in my double business period as I've already completed my assignment.

In all of this, I have broken down 4 times and have eaten twice my body weight in fats and carbs but you know what? I don't care anymore lol

Breakdown count: 12

It's been a while  :o,

I left off with an incomplete biology assignment and a math exam to be sat that day. So let's start from there I'll be as quick as possible, my Exam was out of 20 marks and was a part 2 of the first task. I got into a simultaneous equation that had poor wording and stuffed myself up on it and figured out my mistake the second I stepped out of the exam room. I lost 3 marks immediately so I'm not pleased with that at all and don't want the task back whatsoever. I worked on my bio over the last couple of days of my last update and into the 6th and completed it at 4.50am yay. I printed both Biology and English before I went to school and when I handed in my Biology task at lunchtime I could not have been happier!! All of my task 1 assignments/exams had finally been completed!!!! Woohoo!!

The 7-9th of December saw me at the Australian Catholic Youth Festival in Olympic Park. This was a life-changing experience I learnt so many things and as a previous 'no religion' supporter ( SOR ;) ) I now see how so many people lead lives of faith and how that can be a driving force in their daily lives.

2 DAYS LEFT OF TERM 1 YEAR 12:
Wowza, although very stressful it went quick. In the last two days of school for 2018, I got smashed with Summer homework (especially Biology) and received marks back for my English13/15 (loss of marks for incompletion and worded expression) and PDHPE 22/25 (loss of marks for lack examples and detail in rehabilitation plan and explanations)

2018 saw my school losing a number of teachers that have been mentoring me through my schooling since Year 7, those I really wished to have had around for my whole HSC journey. Unfortunately, the cards don't play in my favour and 7 teachers have left the school mainly due to budget cuts. (Lots of tears were shed here, they do not count towards my breakdown count)

HOLIDAYS
At the completion of Term 1, the first day of holidays I organised a list of what I needed to complete during the holidays, this list is 1 and 3/4 A4 pages long including 'learn biology term 1 syllabus' and 'learn SOR I term 1 syllabus' Hopefully I get that done before I go back or I will be in a whole world of hurt for half yearlies, I need to find motivation so any tips from the AN crew in motivation and limiting procrastination would be very helpful.

I'm going to wrap up now I've kept you long emough,
I hope everyone reading this (Elyse ;)) had a great Christmas and enjoyed the little break with family and friends and I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year.

Breakdown count: Still 12

Alright. It has been absolutely yonks since I have given my update on the forum and I completely apologize because this is one of the things I really wanted to do to be able to look back on my HSC journey and be like wow you cried a lot but look at you-you got there! Fortunately, I have been keeping a handwritten book of updates for those who like to read what I'm up to (Jamon and Elyse).

January:
I had agreed with myself to begin holiday work on the 7th of January and do a little bit at least every second day to get back into the routine of school work and get my notes in order. This semi-worked out for me because I did do a small amount of work but not as much as I intended to because I lacked motivation (it's holidays c'mon) but I did attend the ATAR Notes Headstart lectures for all my subjects except PDHPE and General Maths (I'm sorry Jamon I slept through my alarm  :'() I also managed to achieve one of my goals for the year which was to get my red P's (also a factor as to why I didn't get as much work done as I intended to).  Something I did do through the January holidays was plan my academic goals for my HSC year and they are;
1. Get in the top 5 in 3 subjects
2. Get in the top 10 in all subjects
3. Achieve at least 80% average in all subjects
4. Get a band 6 in General Mathematics
Overall, I'm aiming for an ATAR of 80
Breakdown count for Jan: 2

February:
1/2 was my second day back at school, I found that this was the time that it really hit me that I'm a year 12 student and I'm doing my HSC in about 9 months time. In the first two weeks, I found very quickly that my sporting commitments were having a negative effect on my studies, at this stage, I was training 5 or 6 days a week for at least 2 hours a night. This didn't allow for adequate study time and I was quickly placed behind on all my work, I was staying up until 2/3am completing homework due the next day and waking up at 7 to get myself to school on time and continuing through to 3 am the next day and the cycle continues. This proved to be very tiring and unhealthy, to say the least.

I got very sick mid-February I should've been staying home but I took myself to school because I was too afraid to skip any content as I was already taking two days off the next week to play one of my competitions in Port Macquarie. When I got back from that competition I  aimed to work hard and get a lot of content and catch up done before I went to my next competition two weeks later, which I did end up doing until...

I dislocated my left elbow! great just what I needed. I basically had my arm stuck at 90º for 2 weeks and then in an uncomfortable brace thing (which I still have to wear now and will have to wear through my half yearly exams) This set me a couple of weeks behind and caused me a lot of breakdowns because I'm a whinger and couldn't do anything for myself. Honestly speaking, the injury was a blessing and a curse, first off it put me behind on work because I couldn't type or handwrite properly which caused me to get extremely frustrated. But, in saying that, I haven't been able to play any sport for the last 5 weeks which allowed me to focus more on my studies rather than train.
Big month for Feb. Breakdown count for Feb: 5

March:
Begining of March I had a conversation with myself which went a little like; "what's the plan bro?"
"Idek man there's so much coming up, we've got to get crackalakin' if we're gonna have a decent attempt at these half-yearly exams"
"Alright tomorrow we're going to create a study plan and write a list and start getting stuff done, not long now 'Work hard and be rewarded'"
'Work hard and be rewarded' is now my motto for the HSC, I'm writing it everywhere. It is basically a little saying to remind me that to get through the HSC year I have to stay in the grind by being focused and motivated. Which I have been doing quite well so far. At the current moment, I have completed my notes on the content in the half-yearly exams for PDHPE, Business Studies, and General Math but I am still yet to start making notes on anything covered from this year or last year in Biology or SORI and currently Standard English is a lost cause our exam layout is AOS Discovery short answer, AOS Discovery Creative Writing, and Module A: Distinctively Visual Essay I'm having the most trouble with my essay at the moment but I have a week to figure that out I guess.

My exams start on the 3rd of April and my last one is on the 12th of April, this gives me just one week until I sit my first exam. Yikes!
Breakdown count March: 1

And we're up to date! If you're still reading, thank you for your time. This is a massive update and I will aim to update way more frequently!

Running Breakdown Count: 20

Welcome back to another instalment of BrittyG's sop story...

I completely blanked out on AN while studying for and sitting my half yearlies so much went on. I studied the whole week leading up to my half yearlies and just completely crammed my way through them. So much to the point where I was forgetting to eat dinner some nights and staying up late nervous I won't get things finished before my exams begun. This behaviour led to me getting quite sick through the whole two weeks of my exams. Yep. I was that person. The one that constantly sniffles then tries to blow their nose through the whole exam on the sly... Sorry for putting you through that torture.

Anywho, I'm going to give a brief summary of how I felt I went in my exams because I actually hand wrote it in a little book I keep to document my HSC and such.

3rd April
Exam 1: English Standard
The exam consisted of AOS Discovery short answer and creative writing piece and an essay on Module A: Run Lola Run
I spent the majority of my study time working on my creative writing piece and memorising it, I felt like it was the piece that I could get the most marks in, I didn't do any study on my short answer responses because I'm fairly confident in that section. I practically ignored the Module A essay section until 1 am the day of the exam... stupid I know. I had no related text for my essay and I had no structure set for the exam. I did a quick google "easy to learn related text for Run Lola Run" – with a little bit of digging I came across the poem Invictus, quickly broke it down and memorised three quotes and went into the exam hoping for the best. I wrote in my little book that I completed the exam in the order of Module A essay, Creative writing, Short answer. I skipped a 2 marker in the short answer so I was able to go back to my Module A essay and complete it which I left a body paragraph and a conclusion out.

Exam 2: Biology
The exam consisted of 9.4 Search for better health and 9.2 Maintaining a balance
I completed this exam pretty confidently, I had my study notes completed midday Sunday which left me the rest of the day to cram for English, not much revising was done but I did go through some past papers and look at exam questions to see what I was coming up against in the exam. I also worked off the AN Biology topic tests in my break between the two exams... absolute lifesaver it is, 100% go and get the AN notes and tests for all subjects so worth it. I completed the exam in a weird way, starting with the back of the exam, the 7 and 8 markers then going back to the beginning and working through normally. Overall I was happy with my Biology Exam

5th April:
Exam 3: Mathematics General
Exam Consisted of FSHe1,2,3- Mathematics and health, DS4- Interpreting sets of data, DS5- The normal distribution, DS6 – Sampling and Population, MM5- Applications of trigonometry.
I sat about 4 exams under exam conditions in preparation for this task and I used the AtarNotes General Mathematics Topic Tests as well. This General Math exam was one of the hardest ones I've completed... well, it wasn't hard, I could do everything fine I just don't usually take as much time as I did, I worked nearly all the way up to the end of the exam. There was one question where my calculation was constantly -0.10 off the required answer and I couldn't figure out why so I can't wait to get the exam back to figure out wtf happened -.- But overall I was pretty confident in this exam.

10th April
Exam 4: Studies of Religion I
The exam consisted of Christianity depth study - Baptism extended response and Religion in Australia Post 1945
Census Data. Census Data. CENSUS DATA. I spent a lot of time memorising my Census Data and it came in handy, a significant amount of the short answer responses required information from census data to complete so thank you Elyse for drilling that into my head lol. I completed this exam in the order of the paper, multiple choice, short answer and extended response. I'm quite confident in my multiple choice, my short answer responses are debatable and I felt as though my extended response lacked structure and clarity. The results will tell I guess. I don't feel very confident in this exam. My lack of effective study is to blame here.

Exam 5: PDHPE
The exam consisted of Option - Sports Medicine and Health Priorities in Australia
I completed my study notes for PDHPE before the exam block started so I only had to revise the content in the lead up to the exam. I feel as though I did fairly well, there was a couple of multiple choice questions I guessed and a few short answers I had a little trouble with but other than that I think I did really well.

11th April:
Exam 6: Business Studies
The exam consisted of Operations and Finance
Business was the exam I felt most underprepared for. I was stressing a lot and I found the night before that I hadn't even written notes for the whole of Operations strategies. It was too late to learn it so I just memorised the headings in the syllabus and hoped it wasnt tested. Which it wasn't for the most part. Phew. I was able to work my way around the questions I wasn't really clear and at least got something relavent down on paper so hopefully I'll get pity marks - if they're a thing. For the business report I ended up writing 6 pages worth, I'm hoping I didn't bore my teacher and that most the stuff in there was relevant. For the amount of pressure I placed on myself for this exam I think I did relativley okay.

In its entirety I think I learnt what does and doesnt work in my exam routine and what I need to do in the lead up to exams in the future. I think that I need to work a lot harder on my notes during the term rather than in the week leading up to the exam and I'll be a lot less stressed. Oh! and throughout all of this I didn't even cry! *highfives self* I'm proud of me ;D

Anywho, School starts up again... *Checks time* *12.33am* Today. So I better get resting before I fall asleep in class tomorrow

Breakdown Count: Still 20

Today was the first day back for term2 and I got some really harsh marks from my half yearly exams which I am not too happy with.

Firstly PDHPE; overall I got 40/60 so roughly 65%. I made some silly mistakes in my multiple choice which dropped me a few easy marks but I feel that in my Option section of sports medicine deserved more marks. For the 8 marker on aged athletes and their sports participation options, I got 3/8. I clearly referenced the points of bone densisty/fractures and heart conditions and their sport participation options (I couldn't remember flexibility/joint mobility on the day) so considering I gave two syllabus dot points and examples I feel like there should have been more marks awarded. In section 2 I was required to explain how physical preperation prevented injuries. Included Skill and Technique, pre-screening and physical fitness in my answer (forgetting warm up, cool down and stretching on the day) and ended up getting 5/12. My teacher also put a large bracket over my physical fitness section with the words "THIS IS NOT RELEVANT TO SPORTS MEDICINE" on the margin. Last time I checked it was in the rubric. >:( When we start going through it I'm going to bring it up to the teacher and see if I can get it marked again because it was really harsh for what I produced.

Later on I got my English exam marks back, quick overview; Short answer 8/15 - timing issues and lack of understanding of text, Creative writing 10/15 - I honestly think that what I produced in the exam was worth more than 10 marks, all of the feedback the marking teacher gave in the debrief I did in my piece and she didn't write much in the comments section of my results so I'm unsure what more she wanted. Module A: DV/RLR 9/15 - I'm happy with this mark, I was unprepared for the section and for a two-hour job to get 9/15 is pretty good.

I think I'm going to post my creative writing piece for marking on AtarNotes with the markers feedback and see what others think. Pointers on what I can improve on would be very helpful at this stage as my teachers are pretty hopeless at feedback.

Although I wasn't happy with my results... I didn't cry! HSC builds resilience! That's one thing I can come away with I guess.

Today I received my General Math exam back and I'm extremely happy with my result. I ranked = 1st in the task with 88.75%. The mistakes I made were reading errors and not completing the questions (doing half and moving on). These are an easy fix though.
I also received my biology marks (66%), My results I'm mostly happy with, I would have liked to have done better but It is what it is. I plan to redo each question of the exam looking at the marking criteria to see if I could write a full mark response for each question then hand in the exam to my teacher again with my revised answers for re-marking. I think that'll help with getting to know the content and also exam structuring technique.
I appealed my marks on the PDHPE sports medicine section and the teacher who marked that section is reviewing it, I'm not sure if she'll award me the marks or if she'll just dismiss me because I'm annoying for scabbing marks... she scares me.
I'm now awaiting on Business and SORI

Big day for students across NSW today. HSC timetables have been released and everything is starting to become very real. This is what my timetable looks like;
Week 1: English Paper 1 & 2
Week 2: Biology, General Math
Week 3: PDHPE, Business Studies
Week 4: SOR I

I'm happy with my timetable as my exams are fairly evenly spread across the four weeks and its close to the same spacing that I have/will come across in my prelim, half yearly and trial (CSSA) exam blocks. I feel that now I have got my timetable I am a lot less stressed than I was before, I think this is because I now have dates that I'm aiming for and can work towards and plan around.
Putting it in perspective I have approx. 5 and a bit months until the HSC, I have around 4.5 months until I graduate and in that time I have two weeks holidays so 4 months. For most subjects I will have 1 more assessment and trials to improve my rankings, post trials there is 2 months to work on the gaps in my knowledge. I'm waiting until pre-trials to do past HSC exam papers so I don't use all the questions beforehand, I'll do a few here and there but nothing major.
Wowza's it's all becoming so real now... It's a little daunting but I'm up for the challenge :)

Breakdown Count: 20 still ;)

That's probably one of the nicest timetables I've seen, score!! Really glad to hear you are a little less stressed ;D

Keep chilled - 5 months is a long time, just keep working at a healthy pace and you'll be amazed how far you can go in half a year ;D

I am very lucky with the time table I’ve got I realised. One of my friends starts on October 18th and is done by the 25th!!
I can agree, 5 months is a long time. I’m going to make a schedule over the next couple of weeks including goals of what I want to achieve in each subject before the next task so I can work on improving my knowledge of the content. Hopefully that’ll re organise my brain and stop it from getting overwhelmed.

Thanks for reading and replying Jamon!! :)

I only just realised I forgot to include that I received my general math marks back in my last couple of posts!! I am so excited! I placed =1st with 71/80 for the task!! I couldn’t be anymore happier with myself at the moment.

I now only have SORI and Business Studies to be handed back. I’ll probably get SORI tomorrow and Business Studies early next week. Hopefully my marks surpass what I expect so I can remain this happy :D

I finally got all of my exams back, for SORI I got 76%, I'm unsure where that places me rank wise as almost my whole year does it but hopefully I'm towards the top. Business studies I got 67% which I don't think was too bad, I know I can improve on it.

Overall, I'm mostly happy with the results I achieved in the half-yearly exams. I know I have time to improve my marks and get my content down pat. Now I just need to keep on top of my homework and notes and work hard on my assignments to improve my rankings.

Exciting news! I think I found a study method that will work for me!!!! It's called Mum. So basically I come home, write out a to-do list and my Mum constantly comes in and checks on me to make sure I'm on track. I need someone to put pressure on and force me to sit down and focus because I find everything to distract myself with. So, that's the new plan.

Moving on, Assignments have been rolling in, I had my English speaking task on Monday, I flopped it hardcore. I think I'll get a 7/15 because I kept saying um and ah and didn't really have a point. But the way I was marked I got really peeved off about because the task is; you get an unseen question from a bag, have 5 minutes to plan for the question, go into a room and verbally respond to the question while the teacher marks silently. AND MY TEACHER kept asking me questions like a VIVA VOCHE when she's not even allowed to and she completely threw me off. So I produced a crappy response because she kept asking me questions that I obviously didn't prepare for. So if my marks come back terrible I'm going to request to re-sit the exam or something.

Throughout the week I had missed out on all my lunchtimes and recesses because in my SRC roll one of my jobs is to organise special school events, the next event coming up is the biggest of the school year, our founder's day. So I've been focusing a lot on that rather than my studies and I've been stressing out because the teachers I'm working on it with are shutting me down and being difficult. I decided yesterday that I'm going to retract from organising the event so I can focus on my classes because I can't keep losing my classes to do something that won't even last, my HSC is way more important than a founders day.

I got my Semester 1 report, my results are;
English - 66%, =21/66
Biology - 66%, 6/34
Business Studies - 69%, 9/21
PDHPE - 72%, 11/31
General Math - 89%, =8/39
Studies of Religion I - 77%, =30/83

I'm pretty disappointed with most my ranks and all of my exam marks but SORI and PDHPE. You're probably wondering why I'm not happy with general math, that's because I can do better, I can get 100%, I'm just making stupid mistakes in my exams and I want my ranking in math to be 1st or at least 2nd.

I had my parent-teacher interviews on Wednesday as well. The feedback was pretty similar; needs to stop playing sport, needs to learn how to answer exam-style questions, ENG Organise ideas better before composing a response, learning how to respond to a question in general, Improve on analysing questions. So if anyone has any tips for the above that'd be very helpful

Breakdown count: 23

Yay year 12 life. Last week I went on my year 12 retreat from Wednesday - Friday, which was really good, it was a great time to recoup and like slow down and all that good stuff.
BUTTTTTT
I came back all relaxed and had no motivation to do anything! I had the whole weekend I planned to use on doing my PDHPE assignment and another study. But I procrastinated so hard I ended up finishing this morning at 5.30am. So yes... I am currently in school running on 1.5 hours sleep trying to listen and learn but it's not working so here I am venting.

This brings me to...

THE NEW PLAN: Which I am making up on the spot, sort of, I've been thinking what to do for a while but this is a matter of writing it out and attempting to stick to it.
I need to first of all concentrate and make good use of my class time
Make good use of my study periods
Organise my goals for homework each day
Go to sleep by 11 pm latest
Make good use of weekends, doing at least 6 hours of study each day
Complete a past paper of each subject every fortnight (2 for English)

We'll see how this goes...

So it turns out I haven't learnt anything... on Thursday I stayed up until 4 am finishing an assignment on Sayyid Qutb (SORI Islamic personality) and studying for my general math exam. I think I'll do decently in my SOR task, for some weird reason I do really well in tasks that I stay up really early doing... does that happen to anyone else? As for genny maths, I think I nailed the exam *internal monologue: If you do say so yourself, toot your own horn* I counted up 5 marks that I think I will probably definitely lose and 10 that are a maybe... so hopefully I'm correct in saying I'll get upwards of 85%...? moving on

I've been extremely busy the last few weeks with my sport, school work, organising school events etc. So so much has been happening. I'm so behind on all my school work by WEEKS!! My new plan fell through because just so much has been happening. I get home and nap because I'm that exhausted then stay up all hours of the morning trying to get the stuff done that I need to for the next day that I should've done in the time I was napping... are you still following?  ;D

> I have stuck to some of the new plan, I have been making good use of my class time, most importantly biology... the subject that you absolutely DO NOT want to fall behind on but I am a month behind so that's great.

> I haven't been making good use of my study periods because my teachers organise the meetings for our school events in them so I don't get the study I get to listen to teachers crap on about the same thing for 1 hour twice a week.

> As I am behind I'm struggling to organise homework goals because I like to catch up rather than move with the class. I'm one of those people that have to do things in sequential order, so I need to do A then B then C. But if I'm still catching up on A and the class is doing B, I won't listen and I'll continue to catch up on A. Not sure if that made any sense but oh well, so that section isn't going all too well either.

> Going to bed by 11 was a long shot... moving on

> On my weekends I have been doing a good amount of study and catch up, although I am lacking the motivation to just sit down and pump out the work I'm slowly but surely progressing. As for past papers, I have only completed mathematics past papers because I was studying for an exam. I really need to keep handing in English past papers though, It's a subject that I lack in a lot... Does anyone have tips on how to write more succinct responses for short answer and how to write faster in essays?

Anyways that's about all from me for now

Breakdown count: Still 24 :D

WOAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Long time no talk all, I will make this a quick update with the haps over the last month I've been super duper duper busy!

Okay so, I sat an English exam on the 3rd of July. I ran out of time and only wrote an introduction and a body paragraph in the exam. Obviously, this wasn't good so I freaked out and called my mum and cried ... she told me to get over myself (lmao relatable) 'it's only English' she says. I end up getting the task back thinking its a solid 7/20 but ended up getting 12/20 which I was really surprised about. AND!! I got 5/10 for my essay section (first was the short answer) and I only wrote an intro and BP1, so cheerin'

Next, the Same day I did my Eng exam I got my genny math mark back, got 49/60 (82%) and I cried about it (obvi) because I was already upset from English. So yea, that was fun. Following math, 2 days later I sat my business exam which I had the question to so I wrote a response the night before and memorised it the day of the exam. I ended up getting 18/25 because I had to hand in a bibliography, I'm okay with that mark but would've liked to have done better.

I spent the whole holidays completely sick but I went to 10 lectures over the whole thing, week 1 I spent at WSU Penrith and Campbelltown where I had English, pdhpe, business bio and I did a uni experience day at ACU North Sydney (I want to do physio there!!). The second week I spent at ATARNotes Sor, English, bio, math, business and PDHPE. Gonna take this time to say THANK YOU! to ATAR notes and all my awesome lecturers. You were absolutely amazing as always, I've been to the headstart, half yearlies and trials lectures (I think I've been to 16 now) and they are so so helpful and I'm so so grateful for what you guys do!!

CURRENTLY:
In trials prep for next week starting Monday 6/8.

To do list:
1. START AND FINISH Biology Blueprint of Life notes
2. Finish PDHPE FAP FQ2 and FQ3
3. START AND FINISH PDHPE Improving performance
4. Write 2nd English creative
5. Write out English quotes into data grids (Invictus, Run Lola Run, Fault in our stars, Wilfred Owen, Away)
6. Cry

So lots of stuff. Lots of tears have been shed in the last month;

Alright. So, a little bit of stress is settling in as I'm going through all of my English stuff. I'm trying to memorise quotes and write essays and creatives (decided to write a new one). I haven't really focused on English Paper 2 as of yet but I think I will move onto that by 4.00 so I can prep my quotes and such for each text and a few common concepts that link to the rubric then go back to paper one. WOW, paper one so much stress. I didn't think I'd come this far, thought I'd drop out by now but hey, here we are happy days.

I think the biggest challenge I'll face with these English papers is the timing. I'm a pretty slow writer and it takes ages for me to think about what I'm going to write. It was only on Friday that I actually 'finished' (had a fairly good shot at every question) short answer in 40 minutes. Anyways, enough procrastinating from me. Catcha on the flip side. (Probably update after paper 1)

Breakdown Count: 29 ;)

So that wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be, I ended up finishing every question. I'm not 100% on how much of it was quality content though but whatever.

I started with my essay because hardly any of my prepared quotes and concepts fit the ugly ass question 'Discoveries are *don't remember* and they challenge perceptions and expectations or something like that, To what extent does this blah blah prescribed blah one other related text blah blah.
So that's basically how the question appeared on the paper  :) and I was like  :o WHat PaRt oF the DaMn SyLlAbuS DiD tHaT coME FrOm ?????? I was like oh heeeeeelllll Nah. But I ended up writing 5 pages. The plan was to write my essay like Intro, prescribed, related, prescribed, related, conclusion. like I have done. for the last. 6 formal/informal tasks on discovery i have done. but no my brain farted and was liek hey lets just Intro, integrate prescribed/related, integrate: prescribed related, 3 sentence conclusion. I was like ... @ brain I'm sorry wot? It was like yo that's some good ish I was like whatever fam now we're gonna do the short answer

The short answer was relatively fine, the guy that kills butterflies and the uncle that dies alone before 50 and the other one about the idea what it was actually, I didn't really understand it so yeah. Finished that in 40 minutes, think I did pretty poorly but my teacher has to mark 6 pages of absolute crap so that's good for her. Then I worked on my creative which I wrote yesterday after having the idea for ages, it was very detached and unedited but hey, it worked with the stimulus which I can't remember because it was the first thing I read and I was like heck yes that fits my story completely I can just memory dump everything, which is what I did.

The funniest thing is that I have an Instagram meme page and it's going off with everyone sending memes and commenting and discussing the page and it's so hard to concentrate on tomorrows paper but I'm going to turn off my phone and just work work work to get everything sorted for tomorrow.

Not sure if I still have people reading up to here but yay no tears from English paper 1

Breakdown Count: 29  ;D

So I completely forgot to update I'm so so sorry so here it is in short and in all weirdness.

I thought I was going to do so much worse than I actually did in the eng paper 2. In the reading time, I looked at all the questions and I was liek ??? am I meant to write about discovery again because these damn questions come straight from the discovery rubric. But then I was like well, it is what it is, may as well attempt to plan a response in my head for reading time (didn't work out well at all). Once reading time was over I spent 10 minutes writing a plan for each essay (3/4 minutes each plan) and then I decided to start on the Mod B essay which is Wilfred Owen. I ended up brain farting again (bloody brain) and I wrote yet another. Integrated paragraph. Before I could catch myself, and then when I did I was like wtfrickkkkk r u  doing brain!!! And my brain was like "SHEE WASSN'T READDDDYYYYYYYY" so that was a bummer. I stopped writing that essay about 3 sentences into the second integrated -.- body paragraph and moved onto Mod A Distinctively Visual.

DV wasn't that hard, my prescribed text is Run Lola Run and my related is 'Invictus' a poem by William Earnest Henry. I managed to write an Intro, body paragraph prescribed, BP related, BP Prescribed before I moved onto Mod C Exploring Transitions, which is my best module because I really enjoyed the text, The Story of Tom Brennan. But it occurred to me during my reading time. I hadn't actually prepared a related text. So I defaulted to my related for discovery (the fault in our stars) which actually worked pretty decently. I finished that in 35 minutes and I had 5 minutes to spare so I wrote a quick body for module A and a 1 line conclusion then I went and did as much as I could on Wilfred Owen so it was all a bit rushed but I'm pretty happy with what I produced for how much I prepared.

On Thursday, I had my genny math exam. That was pretty decent, I know I definitely lost around 5 marks but I think I'm looking around the 80% mark for it. I was so stupid wth my timing in the exam though. The CSSA exam is 2.5 hours and the countdown clock on my watch only goes up to 90 minutes, so I set it and forgot that I needed to add another hour onto it when it went off. But I was looking at it and freaking out thinking I had like 10 minutes of the exam left and I hadn't finished 3/4 of the booklet. So I was freaking out and doing the thing everyone does in the last 5 minutes of an exam where you rapidly flip through all the papers shitting yourself so you can complete questions you know to maximise your marks. Yeah so I was doing all that and stressing out and disturbing all the poor people around me and I'm all like 'why isn't our teacher telling us we have one minute to go?! What is happening?!' and my countdown clock started buzzing and I was about to cry and I looked up at the screen in the hall. IT WAS 10.00AM. OUR EXAM FINISHED AT 11!! I HAD A WHOLE ASS HOUR LEFT OF THIS DAMN EXAM. So I calmed myself down, reset my watched and finished the paper in the next half an hour lel. After I bloody stressed myself out so much!!

After that exam, I chillaxed a little and planned to study over the weekend but that got ruined. My foot (I have no idea how) decided to get inflamed and I woke up Friday morning and couldn't walk so I hobbled to a GP, he told me to get an ultrasound, so I did that, then I got told I needed crutches and the pain has just been so bad I can't concentrate on my study, Ugh!! So Now, I'm off to cram in 4 subjects in about 12 hours.

Breakdown count: 29! ;)

Yesterday: SOR

I actually found the exam a lot easier than I thought (seems to be a trend) I'm happy with what I got down onto the paper, I managed to finish multiple choice and short answer in 10 minutes (I start MC in my head at the end of reading time and work out the answers) and that left me with an hour and 20 minutes to do the rest of the exam. I ended up choosing Christianity for section 2 and Islam for section 3 because I wasn't confident enough to write about the Islam section in Section 2. Hoping for good marks there.

I also got my marks back for my task on Sayyid Qutb and got overall 27/30 which was so good!! I'm so so happy with it!!

Today: Business Studies

I honestly thought I was going to do really terrible in business and I probably still will but I built it up a lot in my head that I was going to do so poorly I'd cry. Which I didn't! Yay for no tears!

A lot of my exam was modified because my class haven't finished HR so like 15 questions were changed. I wrote 11 pages for my business report. Apologies in advance to my teacher it's complete and utter bs and further apologies for when you read my essay because that's even worse than my report.

Tomorrow I have PDHPE so tonight I'm going to finish all my notes for it and hope for the best in tomorrows exam because I am going to die.

WHAT. That boy kills the butterflies?!?!? Omg I interpreted that sooo wrong. I think the non-fiction one was about a kid on one of those whirly spinners in the playground (that's literally the worst description of it ever) who suddenly realises that (at the age of like 5) he's going to die eventually and we're all doomed. Enjoyable read.

Btw, I love reading your hsc journal omg! It's one of the best ones

Heya dcesaona,

Yes, the boy blows on the butterfly and because he made it 'hatch' prematurely he killed the poor thing 'and it dropped as solid as stone' or something like that. And I had no idea about the non-fiction one oml if it was about playgrounds, I am so entirely screwed!

Thank you so much for reading my entries, I'm glad they've been entertaining :)

Ugh! This has been a WEEK!

So basically to top off this week of exam stress and other craziness

On Saturday night I was reverse parallel parking while arguing with my brothers that I picked up from the club early in the morning (worst decision ever) and I wasn't paying attention and I hit the gutter. Not just any part of the gutter, the part of the gutter where a big metal piece of the drain was sticking out and I pierced my tyre >:(  >:(  >:( SO FRICKEN MAD. I had no fuel wither so I just left it on the street to deflate (go life amirite)

Today I drove it around to the front of my house to fix it and before I started I went to the toilet (when nature calls right) anddddd my phone ended up in the toilet. great. Not only are some of my trial exams gonna be poopy (no pun intended ;)) my tyre is busted and I have to change it and now my phone is drenched in toilet water and not wanting to turn on... FANTABULOUS I RECKON
ugh can't wait for this week to be over, Monday cannot come any faster... I have the day off 8)

Also! I have a semi-final for touch tomorrow so hopefully, I get up with the win to kick off an awesome week :)

Breakdown Count: 29  ::)

Okayyyy updates YAY!

I have a semi-final for touch tomorrow so hopefully, I get up with the win to kick off an awesome week :)

For those of you wondering, I did win my semi-final and I am playing my grand final tonight!! WOO HOO!!
last week was a good week, I got my tyre fixed, grabbed myself a cheap second-hand phone but I did clock myself a $112 dollar parking fine for reading the sign wrong but its fine. It's okay really I'm fine. *Cries in Spanish*

I am starting to receive exams back and I am really happy with the ones I have gotten back already. Like over the moon happy.

I first got back my General Mathematics exam which I ended up getting 78/100 in. I was disappointed at first because I expected more but knowing the person that came first got 81/100 made me feel a lot better. In saying this, I completed the 2017 HSC exam for genny yesterday under timed conditions and ended up getting 93/100 so I'm on the right track.

I then got my biology exam back. I thought I did okay in this exam (Just realised I didn't do a write up on it) but yes I wasn't happy or sad with it but you know, my low expectations were exceeded. I got the exam back and got 74/100 which is really good for me. Our highest was 95 though so I'm a bit away from the top and I expect my rank to drop from second, I'll update you all on my ranks later.

Moving right along, English (Standard). I am so so overly happy with my marks for English I can't even explain, they are as follows;
AOS Discovery: Creative 12/15, Essay 9/15, Short Answer 13/15
Modules: A Distinctively Visual (Run Lola Run) 15/20, B Close study of text (Wilfred Owen) 14/20, C Exploring Transitions (Tom Brennan) 15/20.

Overall it equals 78/105 which is roughly 74%. My best mark in English for HSC (WHOOP WHOOP)

I'm currently working out a study timetable from now until the HSC including all my sporting commitments and such so I can do adequate revision and study for the HSC. I'll let you know how that goes.

Breakdown Count: Lucky number 29 STILL! Look at me go!

How did your grand final go?!

Hey J41!

Unfortunately, my team had a really off game and couldn't come away with the win. In Touch football grand finals go by an uneven points system where the first touchdown scored is worth 3 points and every touchdown after that is worth 2 points so there is no draw and we went down 7-4 (3-2).

Since I last posted, I have played 2 more grand finals and lost both of them (One basketball one touch football), played an additionally 9 games of touch footy, organised 3 school fundraisers, got baptised, received my first communion and got confirmed into the roman catholic church, had my final day of classes, graduated and lost a crapload of my notes due to my laptop going for a swim.

SO MUCH CAN HAPPEN IN A MONTH

WELL! I'm just gonna talk about the big things. Starting w the fundraisers really quick.

So It's tradition at my school that the graduating class buys a present for the school (like giving back to the community) and teacher gifts. So I organised 3 fundraising events for that (one was halloween last year). We had a basketball game against our 'brother school' and a sausage sizzle BBQ. All up we raised $1800 which was awesome, our school is under renovation so we're buying an artwork for the new building and we got the teachers personalised mugs with chocolate and stuff inside.

Moving on! I got baptised! It has been something I've planned on doing since December last year and it finally happened the Wednesday of my graduation week. It was a very small but quite beautiful ceremony.

Next up, FINAL DAY OF CLASSES WOOOO. Wasn't really a day of classes since we practiced for our mass period 3-5. My school has this tradition that we all stand in a massive circle for the last 10 minutes of the day and we sing songs until the final bell then we all run into the middle and get around each other. So we did that. And I didn't even CRY! *takes a bow* but yeah I still don't think it's hit me yet.

Monday saw my graduation celebrations, starting with the College match in which I brought in the school banner (Wow britt ur so kool). But the most important thing about this mass was the fact that for the first and last time I was able to receive the eucharist with my cohort, which was really special. The Mass was followed by a year 12 assembly which is basically our muck up day (piss poor muck up day but we do with what we've got) We basically present a video full of skits to the student body so we can all have a lol together one last time then we leave. SO thats basically what happened there.

That Monday night was the graduation dinner where there was crappy food and service but I won some awards. The first being the Pierre De Coubertin Award (awarded by the Olympic association), the Caltex Best All Rounder Award, 2nd Place Student of the year, 3rd place teacher's student of the year and an Outstanding leadership award. Hard work pays off!! (literally got zero awards for academics but thats fine lmao)

Wednesday was a sad day in my life. Also the reason my breakdown count will increase. My bottle leaked in my bag as I was at school for tutorial classes on Wednesday and absolutely soaked. My. laptop. It will not turn on. And I have lost a lot of my HSC Notes. Naturally the first thing I did was cry. I cried as I attempted to dry my 3 hour soaked laptop. I then took it to the school IT guy who took it apart and declared it dead. Thx Mr Zoo. I cried my way to the library and hired out a laptop to re-start my notes and I walked into my genny math Tutorial and the teacher asked

"How's your laptop"

All I did was look at her. And she knew it was gone, she could see the heartbreak on my face as it started. My ugly cry face was coming into fruition as I sobbed out the strained words 'It's dead, It's all gone. They're all gone.' As I burst into a crying sobbing mess. I sat on the floor and tucked my knees up into my chest as I sobbed for a solid 5 minutes. RIP LAPTOP. It is currently sitting in my kitchen in 5kg of rice. I'll keep you updated on that one.

One upvote = one prayer

As for the last couple of days, I've been trying to get some notes together (PRAISE THE LORD FOR ATAR NOTES)
I now declare you all officially up to date!! (for now)

Breakdown Count: 32  ??? Sorry Jamon  :'(

On the topic of backing up files, I can highly recommend using Google Drive. I have an extension which I think is just called Backup and Sync, whcih automatically backs up all my files to my Google Drive. So if I make changes to a document, it automatically syncs, and you get 15GB free storage. As I said, I can highly recommend it, it's super easy, and I don't have to remember to keep backing things up!

Alrighty,

quick as life update before I jet off to bed.

Achievement alert!!

I finished my PDHPE notes !! (I know I am late... shit has been Rough lately. But yes. That is all of my HSC notes done and dusted (other than SORI). Actually, I'm going to tell you about SOR.

At my school, SORI is the stupidest subject. I think the teachers just assume because we're at a Catholic school, we know everything about religion. The answer is NO we DON'T which is why we come to ScHOoL so YOU the TEACHER can TEACH US. Literally, nearly every SOR student I have talked to said that their SOR teacher hasn't taught them anything and they're learning the syllabus themselves.

The only reason I am staying afloat in SOR is that of the ATARNotes lectures Elyse runs (you're a legend gorl). At the current moment, my SOR marks are that poor that I don't even think they'll end up being a saver and I'm considering just dropping the unit to finish my exams on the 2nd with business rather than the 6th. Back to why SOR is dumb at my school. Not just the teaching is poor, but they chose a Christian personality that like nobody knows. We have Dorothy Day. Like. It's so hard to find accurate and reliable information on her, how are we expected to write 15 marks worth of bs on her let alone 20!! like hello school, get it together. I think I'm just not going to study a Christian persona and just know all my other components really well and work around it. I mean, that's what I did for our trial exams.

Moving on, I'm going to start working on full-fledged revision tomorrow starting with biology (I did a bit today but I'll continue tomorrow). Also tomorrow I have my final round of touch football before the quarter-finals which will be pretty cool, if we beat this team we come second but if we lose we could come 6th  :P big odds on this game. I'll let you know how it goes.

P.S. The laptop hasn't carked it yet so that's a good sign.
P.P.S. Is it weird that I'm kinda excited for the HSC?  :-X ... actually, forget I said that

My teacher was absolutely horrible as well. I swear I learnt nothing the two years I was in his class. I also go to a Catholic school and they really DO expect us to know everything. It's ridiculous.

Anyway, good luck with exams and SORI! It's almost over! *Jumps up and down happily*

I am trying so desperately not to hit the wall. HSC seems so close yet so far and although I was comfortable a couple of days ago, I can't help but wonder if I'm actually going to be prepared for my exams. I have about a month until its all over, actually less than a month, I would have gotten on a plane at this time and jetted off to Bali for a week. Crazy to think that there'll actually be an end to all of this.

At the moment I don't exactly have a study timetable and I'm making it all up as I go, doing subjects I 'feel' like doing when I wake up which seems to be working out decently well actually. Yesterday and today I've been in a Bio-y mood so thats been on the cards but I'll need to start on business revision soon, working on extended responses and such. I'm leaving English to the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of that week, mainly because I feel like I'll stress too much about it if I start earlier. The only thing I'm working on now for english is memorising two creative pieces but other than that its M, T, W for English.

I guess that's it for the moment.

I am trying so desperately not to hit the wall. HSC seems so close yet so far and although I was comfortable a couple of days ago, I can't help but wonder if I'm actually going to be prepared for my exams.

I've hit the wall and as the date of English Paper 1 draws closer I'm getting more and more anxious. I don't know exactly how to feel at this point. As the date gets closer I get less and less motivated to do anything. I don't even want to sit the exams before. I don't know why but something is just telling me to go fuck it and sleep through all of my exams.

In fact! That feeling is so damn strong that I've actually had NIGHTMARES that I've slept through English Paper 1 AND 2!! Like... I go to bed on Wednesday night and I wake up on Friday afternoon and its all over. I can't get an ATAR anymore because I need the English units.

I'm also finding it very hard to sleep at night. I've been charging my phone across the other side of the room and putting an alarm on so I wake up but I still can't sleep. I just toss and turn for hours! It's impossible to get into a good sleeping pattern.

Last, of all I'm scared. Scared that I won't be able to get an ATAR high enough to get into my dream course. Scared that I've have studied so hard to throw it all away at the final stage of the process. Scared that I'll let down all of those people who wish me luck and tell me I'm going to do great. Scared that I'll let down my Mum because of she as a single mother paid for all my school fees and all I could give her was a shitty ATAR. Scared that I'll let down myself.

I know that the HSC isn't the be all and end all. I know that it won't define me. But. It's the hardest challenge I've had to face to date and a long challenge at that. I know there's plenty of ways to get into Uni, but the quickest and easiest way to get in is off of ATAR alone, and I don't think I'm going to be able to do that.

This is not a breakdown, but merely an outlet of thoughts (still haven't cried woo 🎉)

Hey!!!

You will be fine. After all this work the best you can do is just try your best. Whatever ATAR you get at least you got an ATAR and finished 13 years of schooling and SURVIVED!!!

Dont give. Famous quote... You don't fail until you stop trying. Everyone else is in the same boat and trying to make it through...

All the very best for Thursday. Not long and it will all be over!

Quick post before I head off to bed on the night before the exam that stops the nation... well the state... well the graduating class of 2018 and some old farts that supervise... English paper 1.

I don't feel as prepared as I feel like I should be and oddly enough, I'm not really stressed about it. I feel like that would've been me in 2, 3, 4 weeks time if that was the beginning of HSC. I don't think I would ever feel 100% prepared for the first exam of HSC. Maybe since that's my thought process thats why I'm not really stressing.

I have a creative writing piece memorised as well as 6 quotes from my prescribed 'Away' and 6 from my related 'The Fault in Our Stars' - movie. I hope that my knowledge on my texts will get me by.

That's all for now.

SO!

I didn't post a recap on paper one for a couple of reasons
1. I had a breakdown or two
2. Studying for English paper 2
3. Posting memes and updating my story on IG @hscya.later

PAPER 1

So English paper one was really bad for me. The only section I was happy with was the creative which I thought I'd be done within half an hour but took me the whole 40 minutes it's allocated for me to do so that was a bummer.

The short answers were very unexpected and really hard to draw techniques from. This was stimulus one, Stimulus 2 was Srah Day's poem 'Antartic ship' which is nowhere to be found on the internet and the third is an excerpt from Robert someones book on how perceptions are changed at different landmarks or some stupid shot. I didn't get to read it because I ran out of time and just looked at a sentence and made it a technique. Poor form I know.

The essay question wasn't bad but I didn't do good with it is my problem. I only had two body paragraphs for my essay. Love that for me.

After that exam, I cried. twice. and as I was driving home I had to pull over because i couldn't see past my tears  :'( ahahahaha what a sad life...

PAPER 2

Wasn't too bad actually, I would've liked to have written more but that's okay. I'm happy with how I did.

I started with Module C, Exploring transitions - The Story of Tom Brennan. This was my best essay. I planned it in the reading time got all my quotes down for it and I wrote 3 paragraphs instead of two. The question asked us to discuss the quote 'Transitions involve as much loss as they do gain.' in relation to prescribed and ORT. I did the 1st paragraph on P loss 2nd one on ORT gain and 3rd on P gain. So even though unbalanced hopefully the markers like my essay. Whatever I don't really care anymore.

NEXT

Module B Wilfred Owen asked 'The complexity of human relationships in the centre of Wilfred Owen's poetry. discuss this view relating to excerpt (insensibility) and ONE other poem.' in which I did Anthem for Doomed youth and agreed with the statement using I for human relationships between soldiers and ADY for human relationships between soldiers and those at home. I wrote 2 paragraphs referencing 2-3 quotes from each and about 5-6 techniques.

FINALLY

Module A Distinktivley Visual. The question was trash. 'How do distinctive images allow the composer to challenge and educate their audience?' prescribed and ORT as usual. So that question sucked because of the education part and I'm basically BS the whole thing so have fun marking that one HSC person.

After the exam, I looked at memes and did everything I had to do on the meme acc and went to the beach. I have a touch semifinal tonight so hopefully, that goes well and hopefully my stress eating hasn't affected my fitness. I'll get back to you on that one.

So that meme account right. @hscya.later? yeah, that one... so that's mine lmao and I just revealed my face on it yesterday because I hit 2000 followers and I was so nervous! wow. I didn't expect the account to be as big as it is like honestly, I'm amazed. But I am so glad that I have a platform that allows students just like me to have a bit of a joke and a de-stress from hsc as well as a safe place to ask questions freely.

One of the things I love to do is help others and with that account and that platform, I'm able to do that. Jamon jumped on the live stream also and helped me answer some questions (legend) and it worked out really well. Everyone is so nice as well!!! My private Instagram is blowing up too and I had to take my snapchat out of my bio because people were already adding me on that.  But yeah that was something new I just wanted to talk about. I'm so so overwhelmed but so so happy at the same time like wow, the hsc can bring people together and that's a great thing right? 😂

So.... biology was just a major shit heap and there's not really any other way to describe it. My prep for the exam was pretty poorly done, I couldn't get anything into my head. I broke down a number of times (I'll leave the legit number as a surprise at the end  :o) and overall there was just so much stress surrounding the test that when I was in there it was like I couldn't be arsed to answer any of the questions properly.

The exam wasn't too hard, I can agree with that. But there were some really heavy mark questions that I don't see myself getting over 1/2 the marks for them. Especially the JUSTIFY QUESTION FROM COMMUNICATIONS GRRR. Communication was just a let down in itself. Some popular topics from the exam (straight from the thoughts on the meme page) were:

1. Drawing of 3 diagrams; normal vision, myopia, myopia corrected (in which the big question was, did you draw your diagram in pen or pencil?!?!?!?) my answer... both :)

2. Justify question for the 8m communication on which it asked why models of human eyes and ears must be altered when referring to different animals.

3. Why the f was question 1 so hard

4. is a unicellular, cell membrane-bound, non-nucleus containing pathogen a Bacteria, fungus, protozoan or Virus? I said bacteria

5. Line graph or bar graph for vaccination effectiveness

and last but certainly not least

6. Mitosis and meiosis... What occurs at the interphase and! what process happens at the first meiosis cell division? I wrote 3 answers and can't remember which one I stuck with.

I'm now onto stressing for genny math (something I never thought I'd do. I did the paper from 2013 and got 83%!!! I usually get the 90s in HSC exams for general. This was going to be my one band 6 subject and in my last study for it I pulled an 83 -.- ... If anyone else did that paper... did you find it challenging?

I also cried then to ahahahahh. So much crying in the last two days... Anyway. I'm off to bed now, no more tears... I'll let you know how Genny treats me tomorrow sometime.

So math.

I CRUSHED IT (in a good way)

I'm actually so happy with the exam, it was so good and I didn't really have trouble with anything!!! (except for the fact that I put down a water tank was 4km tall) but hey they do be like that sometimes. I'm literally so stoked RN !!! hopefully a band 6 in math will help my atar out because I'm probably sitting in the 60s atm :((((

But anyway, I'm gonna take the arvo off and get into studying for PDHPE tomorrow !! :)))

Awesome Britt! You definitely deserve a break after these back-to-back exams! Glad your maths exam treated you well (also super jealous that General maths didn't have to do an afternoon exam haha).

Good luck for PDHPE!  :)

Thank you so much!! I took a break and only did a little bit of study yesterday, I was actually really surprised that the General Math exam was that easy... which is okay but not at the same time (lowkey wanted a challenge).

Thank you for your well wishes and all the best for Food Tech (that's a big break!!)

So I never actually recapped PDHPE because my Instagram was messing up and didn't allow people to type in the question boxes. Needless to say, I was calling and emailing Instagram that whole afternoon because let's face it, I'm an annoying emotional wreck.

The PDHPE exam was actually really good, the questions were very fair but the multiple choice questions were roughhhhhh. I was not a fan. But I got through them quickly and in the end had 2 hours to do my extended responses. I actually really liked the Sports Med and Improving Performance questions except I couldn't quite remember my syllabus so I definitely lost a fair few marks to that. Overall it was a really good exam.

I am currently cramming for business studies. I tried to predict the extended responses but I could only make limited predictions on the business report involving interdependence of operations and finance, operations influences and finance strategies but then again... who knows. I'm just focusing on past papers at the moment and I'm going to look at Isaac's guide to Business reports as well and write my own so I can do it tomorrow.

Wish me luck I guess... (also the daylight savings thing is throwing me off - I keep thinking I have more time than I actually do)

AHHAHAHAHAH Business, am I right? What a joke.

That whole paper I just BS'd as much as I could because I got into the exam room and all I could remember is whatever Andrew demonstrated at his lectures with people (this helped with 3 questions)

Multiple choices was actually challenging for me and I'm expecting 12/20. My short answer answers I think I'll get something like 20 (all marks for attempting each question). The business report was the best part because I actually think I got down some content that was relevant and all of my HR strategies were actually from the correct part of the syllabus (woo hoo!). Then I got to the essay question and I have never winged something so hard in my life (soon to be taken over by SOR). But I literally didn't know ANYTHING about finance so I had to pick the marketing question in which I drew knowledge from all parts of the syllabus to link price to quality. Which is incorrect. That whole essay is 6 pages of my ideas on globalisation gone wrong. It was just terrible, enjoy marking that guys.

Welp that's one more down and leaves us with ONE MORE TO GOOOOOOOO!!!

Cheerin'

Breakdown Count: 42 (Whoops 🤷🏽‍♀️)

Sorry for the late update but YOUR GIRL IS DONE!!

Wooo hooo!!

I finished on SOR I on Tuesday and I was so excited during the exam I just kept thinking about finishing!! I thought the exam was really good, many people had trouble with the multiple choice but I thought it was relatively easy as was Q11. It was a good paper overall.

I went in knowing about everything for Christianity and Islam bar my Christianity significant person. Our school did Dorothy Day ¿ so I didn’t even study her because there’s nothing for her anywhere. So I couldn’t do the Christianity question in the first part so I did Islam for the 15 marker and Christianity for the 20 marker. Islam was perfect. Couldn’t be any better. But the Christianity question was SO broad. I didn’t know what to do with it so I winged it and only wrote two pages. -.- rip 20 marks 😂

So that was SOR!

Now I am enjoying my newfound freedom, I hosted a party for some of my mates on Tuesday so they could burn all their notes (so satisfying) and now I’m all packed and ready to fly off to Bali!!

I’m so relieved it’s all over... it’s been a fun ride writing these journals however infrequent they may have been 😂

I’ll be sure to check in once bands and ATAR’s come out.

Breakdown count: 43 (wowza)
