Post by: kido_1 on November 13, 2007, 09:58:44 pm
I was just wondering (need to do an extra sub next year): What would be the easiest subject to get a 50 in (If you work hard)..

Thanx :P

Further Maths, perhaps (if you're good at Maths that is)?

Or, uh, look on the scaling report for all the subjects that get scaled down the most? I guess that's somewhat of an indicator?

depends.. are you good at rote learning, or pick up on stuff quickly and can apply it to things easily?

with hard work, you can get 50s in any of those rote learning/memorising intense subjects.. psych, hhd, pe

if you're very accurate and good at maths, further (although you may already have 2 maths which wouldnt work)

if you pick up on concepts very easily, can see big pictures, good with logic, i think that combined with a bit of work but probably less memorising than the other ones.. economics?

I think it really depends on the individual. For some, Further is easy as pie. There are others who can barely pass further, yet can get A+ on an english exam after reading a text once.

Yeah it does depend on the person really. What other subjects are you doing? This can affect things too (e.g. IT subjects and Business actually tie in really well with each other, and of course maths/physics type combinations are much the same). Typically if you take an academic approach towards your 'bludge' subjects (PE, Enviro, OE, your ITs, Business, Psych apparently), that can leave you with a very nice score :D.

yeah need pretty much perfect marks for a 50 in accounting, so its quite hard to get one. if u dont want to do further, i'd recommend physics if your good with concepts. actually the concepts in physics are definetely not that hard to understand. and it scales up aswell

Sure Further Maths is easy, but seriously you can make such silly mistakes (take it from someone who knows)... if you can avoid making those mistakes then yeah Further is the way to go...

Maybe try business management? It's not completely difficult to understand the concepts, and believe me you can learn everything in like a week (at the end of the year)...

I'll wait for my results for business management, and then tell you how easy it is lol... :P

Yeh, I would say Business Management too but I haven't received my results for it yet and can't say 'how easy it is to get a 50'. Odette is right however, the concepts are easy and very relatable to the world around us (as business operates directly in our environment). The most difficult part of the subject would be remembering definitions and examples, however, for me at least, that isn't overly difficult.

Yeah it's the definitions that annoy me lol...
Like for market share... grr took me like 5 mins to think of a "good" definition for it...

IT Applications! Depends how much work you put in throughout the year though. You have to be consistently working hard. For any subject for that matter. Some people may find it easier to get 50 in Chemistry or Physics. It depends on personal preference as well and how much you enjoy the subject.

i remember hearing on here that in PE you could loose 12 marks and still get a 50 (or maybe i didnt lol... someone confirm)

but further isnt as easy to get a 50 as everyone says it is... sure it may be easy to get 45+ but a 50 is pretty much 100% on both exams and rank 1

I would say business management - if you can memorise things well and apply them (which you should be able to do seeing as you're good at biology), then it's pretty easy to do very very well.

I want to do a subject that has a mid year, so I can get a Statement Of Marks and see how I am heading with it (To tell me whether or not to keep up the effort or guve up):

I am looking at tossing up between:
Accounting
Psychology

That is correct, i heard it straight from the mouth of a cheif examiner.

Kido, you would love PE, covers energy systems, which is a 1/4 of the course. Your rote learning skills from bio would help you tremendously in PE.

Um... It seems PE may be another good subject to pick up.
Though, accounting might seem a bit better as I can see how I went in my midyear.

Whats that? =S lol

Oh I had a good thought yesterday. Someone should develop a themometer style ladder with peoples enter's on it or for a certain subject eg. chem , have peoples study scores on there with there name next to it or something so people know that the advice they are being given is reputable. Also gives a bit of credit to the people who worked hard for their marks and are helping others on this site =)

that won't happen. the score itself already is comparative, but to make a rank ladder is unfair and won't happen. if you guys want that then go ahead, but as a mod i don't think its fair to do that to others. good if you get a 50 well done, but its not an excuse to get all high and mighty about it and make other people feel shit so you can justify your own insecurities through study scores.

Heh, well no need to read that far into it.

I think if people want to know your SS now, then they'll just ask it in the thread, or PM about it. If someone can be stuffed doing a rank ladder, then by all means, go ahead, but everyone has the choice whether to give a damn about it or not.

well i don't need my results made public... just have them in your sig if you are so concerned about seeing comparative to others.

also i spoke to dan about the ladder and he shares the same view as me.

Yeah, obviously disclosing your results would be voluntary.
