Pretty much the title. What's something you hated as a kid, and hate more now, looking back?
For me, it's the 2003 Cat in the Hat movie. I could barely stand to watch it as a kid, now I can't even look at it haha. Am I alone in this? I can't be the only one who thinks it should be classified as a horror movie, right? :)
I'm was fine with the books by the way, it's just the film adaptation creeps me out - speaking of creepy kids films, what on earth was Coraline? That was far worse than any R rated movie I've seen. I still can't stand button eyed dolls haha. I didn't realise I had so much trauma from childhood films. At least I'll always have Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron to ease my childhood movie memories :)

Keeping with the theme of TV, I’d have to say Shaun the sheep always creeped me out, I hated the theme song (still do) and the people that just didn’t look like or sound like people

Butter.

Butter.
I agree with this too, I never really liked it as a kid and still don't
-
Red meat & anything involving tomatoes

ahhh when Coraline first came out I thought it was super creepy - It is definitely meant to be. However, I watched it (maybe a year or two ago) and it is quite a good film and would watch it again someday. Apparently the book has a higher level of creepy horror though.

Finally, someone who agrees!!! It's a terrifying movie. Noone wants to see Mike Myers as a human sized, talking, bipedal cat.

rain. when i was little it meant i couldn't do fun things outside. now it makes public transport and going most places i like even more of a nightmare.

This is an outrage :'(
Edit: Comment was directed at Coolmate, not at the biscuits which have given me nothing but joy throughout my 14 years of living.

gotta agree with Coolmate 8),
there's nothing appealing about munching on something that tastes like toothpaste 🤢
-
olives.
also i agree with slowandsteady - mint chocolate is pretty nifty and all those opposed to this truth clearly need to rethink their chocolate tastes

Hear that, ashmi? No mint > mint with regards to chocolate and lollies. ;D

Gotta go with tomatoes. Tomato sauce? Fine. But tomato by itself on anything? Not fine.

This is one of the most incorrect things I have ever read

You’re right, rickworthy is very incorrect about tomato sauce being fine, it clearly belongs with everything else tomato in the not fine category.

Gotta agree with r1ckworthy on this one!!

So I guess your thing you hated as a kid and hate more now is your tastebuds?
(dw you're in the majority here)

tomato sauce is the worst thing that anyone has ever done with tomatoes. all other tomatoes are great!

in my entire existence on Earth, I have never heard of anyone hating on tomato sauce. . . ever.
BBQ sauce on the other hand . . .

it tastes like pure sugar. eck.
-
To summarise, I have similar "hates" with a few other people.
Being mint-flavoured items, tomato [not tomato sauce], cucumbers, capsicum, spiders, cilantro, black liquorice, kimchi....
It's either the taste or the smell in the foods that I hate the most
-
aye......BBQ sauce AND tomatoe sauce strongly deserve their place on earth.
Back to the topic of this thread....I cantttt stand celery - def hate it more now than I did as a kid!!

Have you tried eating celery with things? It's terrible on it's own, but with hummus or peanut butter and sultanas it's fairly decent. Recently I put a tiny bit in a smoothie. That was a mistake. The entire thing tasted like celery, rather than mango or berries.

You guys have never tried quality choc mint ice-cream then🤣👌 (I feel so attacked right now)
Arnott's mint slices are my fav along with mint choc kit kat! I kind of understand if the mint is too strong (that's when it starts to taste a bit weird) but you can't go wrong with a good ratio of choc mint.😂
Does anyone on AN like mint with chocolate?? Or am I just a loner here?
-
I hate most vegetables. I'm quite healthy (actually a bit underweight) but I cannot stand most vegetables. I only like corn, carrots, pumpkin, cucumber and capsicum. Everything else, I just can't stand the taste of. I used to be able to eat a little bit of lettuce, broccoli etc. but now I can't even bring myself to eat them.
Also banana's. I can't stand the smell of them, it makes me want to throw up.

yesssss Mint with Chocolate is super good - my fave has to be those mint slices though ha ha.

I mean im still technically a kid but i hate corn.
Don't mind chicken corn soup but corn itself is YUCK!
-
olives.
Okay, I think I'm Greek enough to be absolutely horrified by this remark.
Kebabs: Olives
Pizza: Olives
Spag Bog: Olives
Prep healthy snack because they're technically a fruit: Olives

Porridge. It is awful, the texture is so hard to swallow and the bland flavor is intolerable. I have tried it so many times as I know that it is a really awesome healthy and cheap breakfast, but nope, I can't do it.
Same with overnight oats. It is so convenient but it is just disgusting!
-
I have a long-standing hatred of mayonnaise, actually. It's egg, but wrong. Wrong egg jam.
olives.
Remind me why I'm dating you? Olives are beautiful, rich pockets of nutrients sent by the gods.

Mint chocolate is a blessed substance. My favourite dark chocolates have mint in them!

I agree with this part on the point that pre-made porridges have always made me sick, so if I ever make 'porridge' I use water instead of milk and fresh fruit/apple sauce instead of honey, bananas and sultanas or something.

As a guy who eats like 5 bananas per day, I say NOOOO that radiation tho
-
I don't count myself as a picky eater but there are a few things I can't stand:
- Mint - just ew, I can't, I hated it as a kid, I hate it more now
- Also tea, it just tastes like hot water gone bad, not my thing (also reminds me of the numerous occasions where I was sick and my parents said tea with lemon and honey would make me feel better - it always ended up going down the drain)
- Which reminds me honey, I can't understand why I don't like it but I just don't. The scent of it just makes me feel sick, I've really tried to get over my dislike of it but I just can't.

quite late but who cares:
porridge, olives and mint-chocolate things are absolutely disgusting and should never have been made. bananas and tomatoes are god's gift to this world
