Title: Is my ATAR wrecked
Post by: LoneWolf on January 29, 2020, 06:55:42 am
Hey people,

I got my results back from my first economics exam.
78.3% im devastated.

Is it still possibility for a band 6?
I dont know my rank yet.

I have since found my rank. Equal first with another individual.

Yes of course you can still get a Band 6!

My marks for Economics fluctuated a lot during Year 12 but with hard work and dedication to the subject, I don’t see a reason why you would be preventing yourself from getting a Band 6! You may have to work a little hard to boost your mark up, but no need to stress for sure :)

Hey LoneWolf,

No, your ATAR is not wrecked ;D Plenty of people have achieved a high ATAR, even if one or two of their assessments haven't gone their way. And also, it isn't the marks in assessments that are important but the final rank you obtain within your cohort once all assessments are complete and out of the way. No need to stress, you have got equal first!

What is important though is finding out why you got that 78.3%. Is it because you didn't study enough, you overlooked some content etc.? Asking why you got this mark will help you realise stuff that you need to change, whether that be study or exam technique. Doing this will help you prevent mistakes for the final HSC exam and help you get higher marks. Not doing this will hurt you in the end, so it is better that you figure out the mistakes you are making now so you can prevent them in the future!

Hope that helps!
