Title: SAT - CAS Calculators
Post by: brightsky on January 04, 2013, 06:14:19 pm: Hi guys, I was wondering: are we allowed to bring a TI-nspire CAS calculator into the SAT exam? The website indicates that only 'graphics calculators' are allowed; not sure whether the CAS passes as a graphics calculator.

Yes. :)

Note: I can't remember about SAT I, but subject tests, yes.
P.S. Just use the calc you're most familiar with, I made the mistake of taking in the nspire for the subject test (it didn't affect my score but I certainly took a lot longer to use it than I would have with my own calc. I think I even used my scientific calc more because I was more familiar with it)
(You probably won't even need a calc, though)

Thanks for that, gossamer! And just as an aside, you're more familiar with scientific calculators? After Methods, I kind of get frustrated whenever I use a scientific calculator, because if the expression's too long, you can't really see what you're doing.

The black one is still permitted. And well, when I say I was more familiar with my other calculator, I mean my TI-89... :P But I brought in both the nspire and green scientific calc (to the subject tests which were Term 3 holidays) which I was used to after using it heaps in Year 12. :)
