Here's the important stuff you need to know:
Dates? 11-13th July
Location? University of Technology Sydney, just a few minutes walk from Central Station! We offer a huge thanks to UTS for supporting this initiative for a fifth time ;D
Subjects? Check out the breakdown below!
Cost? It is totally FREE!!
How Many Lectures Can I Go To? As many as you like!

Which Subjects Have Lectures?

This will be the biggest lecture series we've ever run in NSW. We've got lectures for a huge 15 subjects: Advanced English, Standard English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Maths, Mathematics, Maths Extension 1, Maths Extension 2, PDHPE, Ancient History, Modern History, Legal Studies, Business Studies and Studies of Religion! And each of them has an incredible lecturer:

Emily (we know her as bowiemily) finished her HSC last year with decent scores. You know, 99.85 ATAR. Straight Band 6's. A state rank in Earth and Environmental Science. The usual.

Oh, and she got 1st in NSW for Advanced English, with a perfect score in her exam. Phew, almost forgot that.

Emily packed out two huge lecture rooms in January, this time we're doubling that number with three lectures for Advanced and one for Standard. They'll fill quick!

Andrew is a 2014 HSC graduate who scored a Band 6 in Business Studies (one Band 6 of many) and a 98.50 ATAR. He's currently studying Law and Commerce at UNSW. Andrew is an incredible educator - He has turned students on the verge of dropping Business, into Band 6 exemplar scorers, in a matter of hours. Check out this testimony:

“Business Studies isn’t my subject I guess; I don’t get the best marks... I decided to join ATAR Notes, attended Andrew’s amazing lectures ... And now I got 90.5 in my CSSA! This is coming from someone who was crying at the beginning of Year 12 wanting to drop the subject.”

So kick off your shoes (just like Andrew does), and settle in. This is not one to miss.

Elyse (elysepopplewell) is one of AN's most experienced lecturers, nearly 20 of them to her name. She's a 2015 HSC graduate with a wealth of experience, but I don't think I need to go into that - Elyse's thousands of posts on this forum are evidence of her expertise in both Studies of Religion and Legal Studies.

Trust me, she's even more impressive in person (as if that's possible). She can teach the core of SOR in 2 hours with time for a Kahoot at the end. She'll turn Legal from your hardest subject into your easiest. Don't miss out!

This is me! Um, yeah ... I know Math. I got a 99.80. I only make a few lame math puns per lecture, and my memes are a solid 6.5/10.

Nah, but seriously, I've been lecturing with AN for over a year now and working with AN in general for over two years. I'm really passionate about helping you guys succeed. Would love to see some of you fellow Math-nerds there ;D

When you are in NSW and you think the words "ATAR Notes" you probably think of a few words.

Amazing. Incredible. Out-of-this world. jakesilove

Jake is our most experienced lecturer in NSW, with about two dozen under his belt over the last year and a half. He is an absolute legend among men - Scoring a 99.80 ATAR, straight Band 6 scores, and a couple of scholarships to boot. He's currently studying Advanced Science and Law at UNSW - You know, as if those things aren't hard enough by themselves.

When Jake speaks, they say the head of UAC gets goosebumps, because they know that a few hundred students are about to have their ATAR boosted by a point. Or two. Or twenty. Trust me, Jake will turn the most complicated concepts in Physics and Chemistry into the simplest concepts you've heard all year.

There's a reason that Jamie gets some of the best feedback of any of our lecturers in NSW. She has a way of making even the huge amount of content in PE squeeze into your head with almost no effort at all. Of course, on top of being an absolute gun lecturer, she smashed the subject and got a Band 6 herself. It's no surprise, she lives and breathes the content - She's currently studying Paramedicine at WSU.

Let Jamie resuscitate your marks and defibrillate your ATAR. Her lectures are always packed - Be quick! ;D

5%. That's the amount of students who got a Band 6 in General Math last year. It is one of the lowest proportions of Band 6 students of any HSC course. Why? Because General is full of tricks and traps - If you aren't 100% switched on, you'll miss them and they will cost you.

Our General Math lecturer Steph (stephanieazzopardi) finished her HSC in 2014 with a Band 6 in General and a 95+ ATAR. She knows exactly what it takes to smash a General Math Trial, and she'll give you all that expertise in a matter of hours this July.

Our Modern History lecturer Susie (we know her as sudodds, the History extraordinaire) absolutely killed her first lecture for Modern in January. This time, not only will she be back with another Modern lecture, she's bringing back Ancient History as well.

Anyone who hangs around the site often knows just how good Susie is. Just in case you don't: 10 units of Band 6's, a 97.80 ATAR, and a state rank in Modern History. Extensive experience as a teacher and a tutor. Put that all together and you've got the recipe for a killer lecturer.

You may have been to some of our previous Biology lectures, hosted by the wonderful naomisirmai. This time around, Naomi's given the captains seat to Maddie. With a 99.35 ATAR and a 94 in Biology, you know you're in fantastic hands.

Maddie is an expert in the field, currently studying a combined Bachelor of Advanced Science (majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology, of course) and Law. She'll not just teach you content - She'll teach you how to use it, how to communicate it, and how to maximise your marks in your Trial Exam and beyond.

If you are on this site, you know RuiAce. The man. The myth. The legend.

Well, this July, we are finally letting him loose. Yep, Rui will be giving our inaugural lecture for Maths Extension 2.

For those who don't know, Maths Extension 2 is the hardest high school maths course in the country. The concepts are complex, the questions are brutal, and exams are downright dirty. To get through the subject at all is a huge accomplishment. Well, Rui did more than that - He made MX2 his bitch. With a 97 in 4U and an ATAR of 98.60, Rui knows what it takes to smash this absolute killer of a course.

There will only be one lecture for Extension 2, and seats will fill fast. Jump on it.

PS - Have you been itching to get your hands on some of our awesome course notes and topic tests?? We'll have them all for sale throughout the series, so you can grab yourself the best resource out there for exam revision!! ;D

UNSPEAKABLY EXCITING UPDATE

We looked at the gaps in the timetable, and we thought, "That's a little boring." So we filled them. And boy, will you love what we filled them with.

Two brand new subjects - Maths Extension 2, with our very own RuiAce making his lecturing debut, and English Standard, handled by the incredible bowiemily.

Please Note: These additions have necessitated a few swaps in the timetable, to try and minimise clashes. If you've booked a place already, please check the timetable above to confirm the new time, as you might need to swap to another session!! If you have any questions, let us know!

This brings us to a whopping 24 lectures for 15 subjects in total. This means, in terms of subjects offered, not only is this our biggest lecture series ever, this series is bigger than the ATAR Notes VCE lectures for the first time! Don't think I've ever been more excited for a lecture series - Get excited!! ;D

I'll be planning this out tomorrow :D hopefully there's still space. Hyped for the 4u lecture Rui :) cheers for the message too 👍

HYPE!

I honestly checked out the timetable as soon as it came out. I'm all booked in for 5 lectures! It would have been 6 lectures if we didn't have a family thing on the Thursday. I was really hoping to go to Modern History, but I'll probably take a miss on that since we had a huge lecture day for the subject today and we've got another one coming up before the end of term.
The last lot of lectures were absolutely amazing and I'm so hyped for these coming ones. Thank you so much for running these!!

Dammit HTA school excursions ;) But as long as you saw Bruce Dennett I (kind of not really) forgive you - hope he didn't bully you with the whole vanilla/milo analogy like he did with me :'( Just a heads up though - my memes are objectively funnier than Dennett's, so no excuses when HSC comes around 8) 8) 8)

Pretty sure it would be a bad career move to skip out on mum's birthday. Although, plans for said event can be changed...

Hey, just a quick question Jamon,
Im in Year 11 and will unfortunately be unable to attend the lectures in July as i'll be away on holidays overseas. But will Emily still be lecturing for adv English again next year so i'll have a chance in year 12 to come?
Many thanks!

Hey buddy,

Whilst we can't predict the general movements of our lecturers, we obviously plan to keep having Emily as our English lecturer. She also wrote our English Advanced notes, which you can find here. Sorry that you can't make these lectures, but we'll be holding plenty more! Have a sick holiday :)

Advanced English, Maths 2u, Maths 3u, Maths 4u :D I will definitely drop by and give my regards. It'd be a pleasure to meet the AN team! (yes I signed up for 2u as well. Can't get enough of Jamon ;^) )
Can't blame you, you're in for a treat ;)

Hey! I got something as a food for thought... Might be a good or bad idea, I don't know. But since Jamon had HSC Encore for Musicology Viva!! (goals tbh) I think it would be a great idea for some students to volunteer and/or some of the ATARNotes Lecturers to do a like a live viva voce.

Demonstrating what an A, B , C and below range Viva Voce would be like.
Then judgement can come from like students as well in the audience on what they think their range is.

This could possible work for the HSC ones or maybe next year? What do you guys think?

In all honesty, Economics and Art are probably the next subjects on the list... Whatever subject we offer, it needs to be in really high demand so we can get people down to the lecture and so the lecture helps as many people as possible. Music would definitely be worth doing, but it's behind other subjects in the queue if that makes sense.

brenden is right in terms of lectures - However I defs think that AN has the potential to be a really amazing resource for the Artsy subjects (Art, Music, Drama, Design & Tech, etc.)! We've got some super creative minds on here that are just so under-utilised - the thing is we need students like you to help us build them up! Sooooo even though as amazing as it would be AN probs won't be able to offer official music presentations in the near future, you can always try and implement a similar idea in the HSC Music forum! If you think it'd be useful Dalvin I highly recommend starting a thread, and getting some of your musical friends on board :D if you get some regular activity going, you'll start to attract more and more students and boom! Suddenly you've got a great little musical community to help ya out, like we have for english, maths, history, science etc. etc. May be hard with Vive Voce's specifically (though I'm sure there are ways you could work around it), but the sentiment remains the same :) (if you couldn't tell I'm really passionate about this haha)

I was actually amazed Economics was not on the list. I had friends ask me about it at least 10 times.

I think you need to expand one more day and do a repeat of legal and add eco next time :P

We know, we know - Trust us we want Economics in the lineup really bad, and had the stars aligned a little differently, it would be there right now. But alas, here we are ::)

With how quickly these lectures are filling up, we might just need to expand to four days next time - We'll see! :)

Hey guys! I've registered for a couple of the lectures and I'm super keen, but I was just wondering how accessible the lectures will be in terms of space and stairs, just because I'm going to be on crutches with a big leg brace and I'm worried that getting there and finding somewhere to sit is going to be a bit difficult haha

I've been to Building 4 many times and I remember there being a ramp on the Harris Street entrance.
Every lecture hall in most buildings have small ramps at the entrance, but there are a bunch of stairs 1-2 steps tall while walking to the front.
1-2 steps shouldn't be that challenging though.
The front row seats and seats next to the aisle have massive leg room too.
There are also many elevators to get to lecture halls.
Overall, UTS is very wheelchair accessible.   ;D

Can confirm the above - UTS is a very wheelchair accessible university. Lifts and ramps everywhere, and we'll be sure to give you a seat in the theatre that is easiest for you (be it near the door or near the front with lots of space, whatever works for you) ;D

Excited to see you there! ;D

256 tickets for 3U maths seems a bit odd seeing as I recall there being 200 something tickets when I booked it.

Can anyone confirm?

Just a question,

Are we able to cancel our tickets? I'm a bit sad but my schools organised Holiday workshops I've got to attend. I managed to talk my Maths teacher into setting the workshop Week 1 as he wants us to go to the 3u/4u lecture but unfortunately for my other subjects its not the case. I might be unable to go to the 2U/Eng Adv and SoR lectures ): Would love to offer my ticket to others who need it.

So I am very eager for these lectures, attending the english adv and bio on tuesday and the maths gen on thursday. My question is, are the notes that can be purchased worth it? Are the topics summaised and are the key dot points covered? Also the lectures, what do they entail. Im not naming names but this Tuesday I attended a pretty ordinary hsc lecture (left halfway through- was a full day thing) so fingers crossed Atar Notes have solid engaging lectures, because its a bit of a trek from Penrith 😃

Obviously I am biased, as an author of one of the sets of notes, but they are totally worth it. Super succinct summary of all the core content, by a student for a student. This means it is super concise, with none of the extra crap that you get in a textbook, and super easy to follow and understand. You'll get a chance to check out the Notes and Topic tests yourself before you buy, of course

Bummed to hear you weren't happy with the other lecture! I'm sure ours will be a step up! You'll get content revision, study tips, exam technique stuff - Essentially, we tell our lecturers, "You've got half the day to improve everyone's Trial and HSC results as much as you possibly can." The result is an experience designed by a student who sat where you sat in just the last year or two, so it is well in touch with what you need at this stage in the year

Ps - Cool that you are coming from Penrith! I'm from Richmond myself

I can confirm that the notes are 100% worth it.
I bought the Legal Studies notes last year and they are amazing! (shoutout to Elyse) I barely learned anything in class and started a term late, but I soon excelled because everything I needed to know was in this 100 page book instead of a massive 500 page textbook.
I'm coming to 5 lectures over 3 days, and I come from the Penrith area too ;)

re: Sudodds' revolutionary lecture

Could you do a 360 degree turn after every sentence to represent the revolution? You'll get dizzy, but perhaps you could liken that to the sickening feelings of injustice experienced by the proletariat

If you need encouragement, I can come dressed as my ol' pal, Trotsky

Maybe you should go to the desk and hold up a bunch of books like in your DP.

Good luck at the lectures everyone, lecturers and students alike :)

Just think how expensive it would be to buy that many books :o

Also hope they go as well as they can, given you lot are north of the border. :)

Hey guys,
I just want to say a huge thank you to everybody for being able to put on these lectures!
I went to English and Ancient today and they were amazing (Thanks heaps Emily/Susie :) ). Usually I hate English and it's my worst subject but there were so many tips that I could take out of this and I'm feeling more motivated to work. Susie: you fit a whole term's worth of content into less then 2 1/2 hours which is amazing and had great exam tips (and made it really interesting :D :D ). I learnt more in these three hours then I did in the 6 hour study days I did for these subjects at school last week! I also brought four of your study books and they look incredibly worth it. :D

I asked Jake, but to clarify- I went to book tickets for the legal lecture on Friday and it was already booked out. Would I be able to come anyway, as I know for English/Ancient there were some spare seats?

Tickets just mean preference. If there's leftover spots, they will let you in

Best post evaaaa - So glad you enjoyed yourself today Katie ;D

Yep, definitely, if there are seats you'll definitely be able to come in! And there are almost always a couple ;D keep an eye on that lecture on Eventbrite anyway too, because people sometimes cancel their tickets in the day or two beforehand! ;D

Just saw this post! So sweet, I'm really glad that you enjoyed! It was so lovely meeting you (and Maraos!) during the breaks! :D Meeting people from the forums is always so exciting, putting a face to the (user)name :) If any lurkers are coming to Modern tomorrow please come down and say hi during the breaks! Really makes my day (and I'm sure that goes for many of the other lecturers as well!) :)

Hey guys, :D :D :D :D :D
I need your help please? =/
On the Friday afternoon lectures is the lecture for Modern History. Now that also clashes with biology and my determining factor between the two is what will be actually learning in the modern history lecture? Would we be going to exam tips and tricks/ the core/ or how to better analyze sources etc.? I'm a bit in a strife unsure which to choose and which tickets to cancel and was wondering if you team of legends could please help me out?

Thank you soo much :))))

Hey Kiiaaa!
I'm not 100% sure what Maddie is going to be going through in bio (however judging by the rave reviews she was receiving after her lecture it was undoubtedly fantastic!). In modern we are mainly going through skills, so source analysis, essay writing (for different question types and responses) and then a crash course in 'ideology' (because it is so important for many case studies). We will NOT be going through WW1 content (at least, not in any formal, structured way) - from the survey we sent out, most people are pretty confident with that part of the course by now, so thought it would be better to focus on the more structural, and universally applicable skills and info instead :) In my opinion history is 30% knowing the content, and 70% knowing how to apply it :D

If that sounds like something that'd be useful to you, would love to see you come down! However no hard feelings if you choose bio instead ;)

Susie

Just wanted to give a shout out to the entire ATAR Notes team. I attended two lectures, Biology and English Adv. (had to cancel maths lecture because of other commitments), yet I was more than content with the free lectures. Definitely a class above the other respective organisations that offered holiday lectures, what I learnt was invaluable. I also purchased two sets of notes, Biology and Physics and once again, cannot fault. They already have done wonders for the retention of information for my trials and have summed it up perfectly into this little book. So happy that I came across ATAR Notes and I am very excited to attend the HSC Lectures in a few months. Once again,Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, the day ran so smoothly and what I was exposed to was first class. Very much appreciated :)

We are so honoured to receive such awesome feedback my friend. So glad you enjoyed the lectures and so glad you are loving the Notes. We're keen to see you in September (make sure you come and say hi!), and hope you'll stick around the site in the meantime ;D
