hi! we currently have a thread for jmss entrance exam this year, but if you want some tips for selective entry exams, i did the macrob/mhs exam last year so i have some experience.
firstly, time is of the essence. for example in the maths test, you have 30 minutes to do 60 questions. honestly, i don't remember the tests too much because they were a bit of a blur - frankly, i just remember a lot of panic lol. i hope i didnt scare you off though hehe! just make sure that you don't spend too long on each question. i only finished about half the questions (and guessed a load) but at the 5 minute mark i went through and circled b for everything. and i got a superior for maths. so if you only do half the questions, dont be deterred!! remember that majority of the kids around you will have done around the same as you. i came out of that exam thinking i'd done terribly and would get low averages for everything, but i had 4 superiors and 2 above averages.
so just be conscious of the time, and try not to stress too much about it!! that's all i have for a select entry exam. :)

Hi aayush_,
I have found the following resources and tips contributed by pi which from my perspective are very helpful to prepare you for getting an entry into JMSS.
Another great resource could be http://www.aameperth.com.au/selective-school-test where you can go for a free diagnosis assessment as well as plenty of practice questions in all areas to get you better prepared for any selective entry high school examination including the one for JMSS.
Best Luck!
For MHS/Mac.Rob/etc.:
For JMSS:

I just did the john monash entrance exam and I feel like I did really bad, and I don't have high hopes of getting in at all at the moment, did anyone else find it challenging? Or in/ was a similar position to me.

hihi, I am really interested in getting into jmss. As of 2018, i will be in year 8. I'm planning on sitting the mhs/mcrob test to see where I stand. I have a few questions for you guys :/
1. How do you sit for the jmms test. I literally couldnt find any info on it.
2. How often do you study and for how long, I need to know because I never study and the marks seem too easy to get.
3. What kind of science based questions are there. I've read they are really unpredictable as they change every year but any advice?
4. What kind of questions do they ask you on the interview? On the off chance that I get an interview, I wanna be prepared
5. What is the chance i'll get in? If i get 80-90% on most science, 70-90% on most maths and 80-90% on other stuff, how do you think i'll do?
Thanks guys, I really appreciate any responses :)
