Title: Help for selective entry
Post by: Aligator1000 on February 26, 2022, 08:02:27 pm
Hi All,
I will be sitting the selective entry exam this year, but I know I am really struggling. I have no motivation and I never just sit down and study hard continuously. I would really like to get into one of these prejudice schools, but with only 4 months left until the exam I am sitting here with no motivation not knowing what any of these topics mean. I would really like some advice on how I can stop being this lazy and start studying hard each day

Hello,

I sat the test last year and didn't get in. I know it can be hard to be motivated.

Something that helped me stay motivated is researching about the school and seeing the amazing opportunities student studying there receive. This will help you actually understand how big of a deal this is and will make you realize that you really want this. Also, try to really think and make points about why you actually want to get in.

I believe that this test is all about the mind and you can only study for it effectively if you're motivated. Try studying even if you don't like it. If you start studying and working hard, maybe you'll get used to it.

Hopefully, this helps.

I agree it can be difficult to find motivation sometimes but you really sometimes have to think of the things selective schools provide and give to their students compared to your other school. You need to view gaining knowledge as beneficial and fun by developing different ways of studying. For example you can put in more creativity in your exam prep, more colors, more of doing your favorite subject, anything that keeps you going forward. And also you may consider occupying yourself with tutors as they can help you with your motivation and sometimes make you busy with their homework. Hope this helps!
