I agree with you - I do prefer Mathematics over Science.

Have a look at the link below, this website (takes you to UHS) informs you about EBSS:

http://www.unihigh.vic.edu.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=115&Itemid=154 (copied from pi's forum - thank you for sharing the link!)

I am not sure as to whether I should apply in the future. As I previously mentioned, I may change my mind in the near future.

Lastly, out of curiosity - why do you believe that you would perform horribly in a Reading Comprehension test?
Hmm interesting, I had a light read. It seems a bit too rigorous with the subject selection. Unless you want to do the Asian 5 with Biology + EI in Year 11 looking at the subject outline scares you  :o. There is a lot more flexibility with JMSS IMO, with the availability of a more diverse range of subjects. Trying to find the balance between high intensity subjects and life-experience activities is certainly important. Are you planning to do the Asian 5?

I don't believe I would do terribly, I know it :P. English is one of my strengths, but it is my writing that does the damage, I find all text interpretation 'non writing' tasks daunting, as I tend to skip a lot of information as I read. This is strange as I am an avid reader... But I suppose I have no natural ability in it  :-[. No need for a 'lastly' haha, keep the discussion going! The more Year 9's we can lure to the forums the better  8).

:D - Not entirely sure just yet, how about your plans?

I understand your point here - I don't have natural ability in English either,  :-\

Ehhh... Lots of choices to make haha. Probably Methods, Specialist, Biology, Physics, English and something else... (EI, Physiology, Accounting, Economics, Uni Subject) :). But tons of time to shift those plans around :P. I am a bit disappointed in the quality of my cohort at school, they are all cool people, but very few of them actually care about studies. How about your school?

Oh and what's your favourite subject? Mines probably finance or maths ATM :D.

My apologies for the late reply - I have been quite occupied for the past week.

I agree - I am quite uncertain as to what choices I will make in the upcoming years. Accounting and Economics seem interesting, so I would consider including those two subjects. My school is quite diverse - others seem flippant towards their work, while there are some that are quite dedicated.

Honestly, I couldn't choose one subject at this stage. I find both English and Maths quite enjoyable - hopefully that will remain the same throughout the next few years,  :).

Which test do you believe you will be able to complete the most proficiently when applying for JMSS?  ???

I'm going for it as well... really stuck on what I need to study! Oh, and I'm really interested in medicine, and you know, doctor stuff. So is JMSS the right place to go to if im interested in that stuff? Any tips on for the test?

Hey Rosalie,
Sorry about the late replay, totally forgot about this thread haha. Yeah, I agree it can be hard selecting subjects when you want to do everything  :P. My school is similar to that, although the majority is on the flippant side of the spectrum. In saying that, people generally understand me and my needs, so all good :).

Apparently I'm doing well on my Maths tests in the JAC program (All under 50% though...) and getting in the top 9%-20% of people in the state sitting that test consistently. It's funny though - because the test is extremely difficult. As soon as I recognise something I've never heard of, I skip to the next question, because I know it's pointless trying. So most likely everyone else is finding it extremely difficult.

Best of luck.

If you are interested in medicine then the school is probably right for you :).

Hey Skgun!
Awesome, hopefully we both get in :P. 3-4 hours is freaking awesome! Way more than someone people who are doing VCE haha. I'm only doing 1-2, but with 8 weeks left I probably need to crank it up a notch (Sooo many textbook questions to do Zzz). And sure, I'll send a PM and we can see if we have any advice for each other :P.

Good luck :D

Soun great haha. DW when it counts on quality not quantity. I mat study 3-4 hours but I may only be focused for 2 and a half hours. While you do 1-2 hours and you probably are 2 hours focused completely. So do not worry about that haha! Yeah I am really determined to get in and it really seems like you are too. Hope we both get in!!!!  8) :P

Anyone applying for JMSS, PM us so we could discuss study materials and techniques as well!

Hey everyone,
Did anyone come tonight for the information night? Was alright in my opinion, although there wasn't that much stuff said that we didn't already know :P. Were any current students there? ;)

Best of luck on the test :)

Hi guys ok im new to this atar thing but anyways

yes i went to the information night! I spoke to heaps of teachers and students there, including the principal :)

They were all quite helpful tbh

for me, i find myself studying a lot on one day, then a little bit the next. I'm not very consistent with it but i make sure i dont go without a day of at least 2 hours. even if the two hours is just revising over what ive learned. I like to use my siblings too. I have a younger brother who i tend to teach about thing things ive learned etc, i remember it so much better that way.

I wanted to ask, does anyone know how many students JMSS will invite for an interview?

Ahh it's okay I'm pretty new too!
Ahh it's great that you can speak to those teachers and students there and wow even the principal! I didn't get to because I had to leave early as my mum had some other things to do :'( But I'm sure talking to them is a really good experience!
It's okay! At least you've studied! I don't even think I studied at all! 2 hours a day is HEAPS compare to mine I don't even think I do more than 30 minutes a day...( can't even find a day) Ahh using your siblings sounds like a great idea too!

Unfortunately to your question, I don't know too and I would like to know! But yeah it's probably not everyone who sat the test :P

Hey wulfahh,
The information night was pretty sweet haha, although slightly intimidating (So many people ;o). Teaching people works like a charm, even using an iPad to record yourself teach works haha. Two hours is pretty damn solid, especially if it's everyday. There's nothing wrong with rationing it though, and doing more on weekends/free days :).

I'm pretty sure half the people that apply for the test (500ish) get an interview, which is actually pretty decent :D.
