Hi I’m new to Atar notes and I’m trying out for jmss next year(lol I screwed up the shs test two weeks ago); and I’m just wondering about jmss. So hopefully somebody can answer these
1. Can you still do well in vce humanity subjects if u go to jmss?
-I’m really passionate about science and math but I still wish to do one or two commence subject in vce (since I want to do that in uni); so if I get into jmss, is there still a chance for me to get a 42+ in subject like economics? (I mean I’m totally fine without doing that though)
2. Can tuition help you with the entrance test?
-Lol I didn’t go to tuition for shs test and I screwed up on the actually exam-I studied hard for 3 months especially I studied 6 hours a day for the last month. But anyways, did the tuition help if you have the basic knowledge and needs a lot of practice questions? Btw, which tuition did u guys suggests the most for the jmss test(e.g. James an, Hendersons, QS...)
Sorry for my terrible grammar and the things I say probably wouldn’t make a lot of sense:(
But thanks for reading
and please don’t sink this forum
You're either already at JMSS or didn't get in but just in case others want to know - JMSS requires you to do a hums subject in Year 11, you can accelerate into 3/4 straight away or do 1/2 and drop it in Year 12 or continue. I know some friends who want to do economics, commerce etc and they're at JMSS. In Year 10 you have to do Issues Studies which is pretty much hums but mainly geo in my opinion. It's a really nice subject, I love it (minus the group work) and you learn a lot of transferrable skills, I got high marks, so yes you can still do well in hums.
I didn't go to tutoring, but I did get some interview help from my NHS friend and an ex-jmss teacher who works at my old school, still got in. TBF getting in without tutoring lead to more pride because i know that i am smart enough myself
