let y = g(x)

y = 1/(9-x)

inverse: x = 1/(9-y)

1/x = 9-y

y = 9-1/x

dom of inverse = range of original

ran of inverse = domain of original

cbf with details but thats the principle.

Thanks TT,

I was getting the range of the original function to be (0, infinity), I didn't see the - in front making it (- infinity, 0 )

I  must be getting tired...
