Title: Bad SAC marks
Post by: TheIllusion on May 12, 2019, 07:27:16 pm
Hey AN,
I currently have not been going well in 3/4 software development at all. I just got my SAC results a couple of days ago (28/50) and am still quite disappointed. To make matters worse, I think I did worse in my second SAC as I was unable to code half the solutions within time (possibly failed the SAC). Despite the SAC's being worth 10% for unit 3, could I still get a decent study score? (provided I drastically improve)

Thanks.

In short, Yes.

Your raw marks in terms of SACs don't matter towards your final study score when VCAA calculates it. VCAA compares how well you did on all your SACs against how well other students in your cohort did on the sacs, and then they are compared to how well the entire cohort performed on the exam. In most cases, i've found that sac scores scale up by a decent amount providing your cohort is decently strong and people do well on the exam. Personally, I didn't do too well on my accounting sacs last year but myself and most of the cohort scored well on the exam and my sac scores were scaled up a lot.

Hi guys, i just finished my last SAC for Accounting Unit 3, my average is currently 87% and I am assuming it will go to 89% after the last SAC. I aim to get a 90%+ average for my unit 4 SACs and around 90%+ for the exam. What study score would i possibly get?

Pretty much impossible to say, because raw marks without context of your cohort/exam performance etc. provides very limited information. I'd recommend checking out this thread if you're interested in how the technical side works, but otherwise, keep doing what you're doing - those look like great marks! :)

Hi again, I don't know if 89% is good because I go to a pretty competitive school and people get like 100%s. I assume our cohort will do well in the exam since the study design changed and they will likely make the exam easier as we are the first batch to do it (and as I said we have a strong cohort). I think I might be in the top 10-15 ranking currently. Do you think I will be able to achieve 40+? and does going to a competitive school help or worsen your chances of getting 40+? Thanks for the link and motivation, I really needed that since I was bummed down for making some silly mistakes.

Hi, I have been averaging an 80% throughout Unit 3 and 4. Will I still be able to get a study score in the 30's?
