BLAA 2021: Results Announced!

Howdy all. 🤠

Recently, voting closed for the BLAA 2021. For those who don't know, the BLAA (bangali_lok Annual Award) represents everything good about ATAR Notes. Selflessness, empathy and a willingness to help. A sense of genuine community, of trust, and of passion.

It is awarded to the member or members of the community judged - by the community - to best encapsulate those characteristics. To best encapsulate the ethos of ATAR Notes.

The award is named after long-time National Moderator, heids (previously bangali_lok). Heidi has been an integral part of ATAR Notes for a long time. She has invested hundreds and hundreds of hours into building this community, and much of how ATAR Notes is now is directly attributable to her.

The inaugural award (2018) was won by Bri MT - see the announcement thread here. In total, 33 different posters were recognised with votes. The 2019 iteration was jointly won by PhoenixxFire and laura_ - see here. In 2020, the winner was Owlbird83.

ATAR Notes is, of course, more considerable than the sum of its parts. This community is only the way it is because so many - countless - members contribute, have an influence and reflect the qualities listed above.

As always, very many users were recognised with votes for their contributions and efforts this year. Votes were close, but in this thread we will recognise both the winner and the runner-up in the BLAA 2021.

2021 RESULTS: WINNER
Spoiler
The very deserving winner this year is none other than fun_jirachi. fun_jirachi was prolific in 2021 across several sections of the forums, but really shone answering maths questions.

And the cool thing is that, even though fun_jirachi is one of our HSC moderators, those maths responses weren't just limited to the HSC - fun_jirachi also helped out with VCE and QCE questions. In general, you can tell that fun_jirachi just wants to help students as much as possible. fun_jirachi also notched up their 1,000th post on ATAR Notes this year, which is a wonderful effort.

Thread highlights:

* How to ask a good question on the forum (January 2021)
* Intro to Beginner Friendly Languges (August 2021)

As a mod, fun_jirachi is diligent, aware, and very helpful. In what has been a difficult year for many, fun_jirachi is a very worthy winner of the BLAA - congratulations f_j! 🥳

2021 RESULTS: A SPECIAL MENTION
Spoiler
In the name of transparency, forum legend and National Moderator insanipi finished second, just one single vote behind fun_jirachi. We just wanted to publicly congratulate and thank insanipi, who has consistently finished high up in the BLAA rankings since its inception and couldn't have been closer this year. When I think of the qualities listed early in this post, insanipi immediately comes to mind.

Personally, I just want to thank you, insanipi, for your consistent efforts and contributions to AN - not just this year, but over many years (it's now nearly six years to the day since time of registration). All of our mods do fantastic work, but you really help lead that, and are always happy to do what you can to help. Thank you - your efforts (both posting and modding) are truly appreciated.

Well done to all, and best wishes for the end-of-year/start-of-year period. 💙
