Title: New Year Resolutions 2020
Post by: sweetiepi on December 28, 2019, 04:12:24 pm
So, 2020 is around the corner and I still don't have 2020 vision haha :')
My goals in 2020 include trying to keep eating well, and also reading 36 books (12 classics, 12 #loveOzYA, 12 off my v big goodreads tbr)

What are your resolutions for the year ahead? Do you believe in them? What do you to acheive?

Let's discuss below! ;D

My resolution is to start working out for which I went and got a gym membership today and also certain Uni goals in terms of WAM and what not. I have a strong vision I feel about where I want to be in terms of Academics in this coming year.

Other than that I would definitely love to get an 'actual' job even though I tutor but I just want to get that experience.

I have a lot of small goals that I want to achieve, considering it is my last year of highschool, but my main goal is to have ROUTINE.

Ever since I quit my co-curriculars, I have been developing some lazy habits. I find that without routine, I end up 'overstudying' for SACs, and not doing enough self care.

So my main goal is to form a routine, mainly for after school, and try my best to stick to it. I'm not really the type of person that will ever listen to a timetable that is like: from 6-7 study maths, as an example, but I just want something general that will ensure that I dont forget about my life outside of school.

The goals I'd like to achieve are:
- Getting 8hrs of sleep on week days
- Eating and being more healthy (less junk food and exercising more)
- Getting a job
- Procrastinating less and just getting things done
- Never leaving homework and especially revision for Sacs and Exams etc to the last minute
- Working hard and smart for my first 3/4 and getting a SS that I'm satisfied with
- Maintaining good habits and grades for all of my other subjects
- Not neglecting any of my subjects (especially the ones that are more challenging)

I'm actually terrible at keeping my New Year Resolutions and I feel like it's because I haven't done a fantastic job at making a stronger attempt at maintaining my goals. I came across this amazing article which has really given me some insight on how I can better create my resolutions and stick to them.

I've decided to separate my own resolutions into two sections- ones I'm making for 2020 and ones I'm making for the decade!

2020 New Years Resolutions

- Actively improving my fitness schedule by committing to a weekly routine of treadmill and other gym exercises.

- Learning more ukulele chords and posting more covers on my Instagram.

- Dedicating more time for frequent university study and revision (not leaving it so last minute) amongst part time work and other commitments.

- Spending more time outdoors, whether it be to get some light reading done or to go for a jog.

- Becoming a frequent donator for a charity of my own choice.

- Bonus: beating my personal best in bowling (currently sitting on 145!)

20's Decade Resolutions

- Maintaining positive relationships and strong bonds with friends and family.

- Travelling to places I have always wanted to go (The Netherlands in particular!)

- Exercising optimism, gratitude and self-compassion to be a happier and better version of myself!

Here's to a new year, new decade, new me! Keen to read everyone else's resolutions  ;D :)

MY RESOLUTIONS:
1. To maintain a healthy school/life balance and complete all of the study I need to, to do well, whilst giving myself time to do things I love and to rest.

2. To exercise more and eat healthier because of how good it makes me feel and how much more energy I have when I do,

3. To be kinder. To complete at least one random act of kindness every week!

4. To be happier. To make more choices that make me happy and to have the ability to say no to things that don't.

1. Be more honest - I find myself laughing at jokes I'm uncomfortable with or pretending I know what someone is talking about when they don't, and I want to stop being ashamed of my own opinions and set of knowledge.
2. Do some form of exercise every day, whether it's a ten minute walk or an hour long bike ride.
3. Find time to read every day, even just a page or two.
4. Cut my screen time down on my phone so I can be more present in daily life.
5. Establish a consistent study routine so I don't have to feel guilty when I spend time relaxing.
6. Save $2,000

Main one for me is to get really financially savvy and save as much as I can!
I also want to enjoy the last year of my course as much as possible and finish uni with some good results.

I made bingo cards for new year resolutions before for 2019 (which I got bingo on Dec 24 2019) and have done it again for 2020, as it’s helped me quite a bit.

For 2019, I focused a lot on trying new things (as I was a bit too stuck in my own habits and small sliver of life) and building healthier habits (e.g. drinking more water, taking more steps, choosing to eat healthier on a regular basis where possible).

For 2020, a lot of those habits I’d like to retain, as well as focus more on my health (physical and mental). I’ve been really terrible at sleeping enough and getting enough vigorous exercise into my average week, amongst other things, so that’s why next year I hope to change that.

Looking through my 2019 Resolutions:

-- I'd like to be able to prepare my family to be independent enough for when I move houses without them
Not yet

-- Figure out a career path, it's damn difficult. I'm stuck on a few
Not set but narrowed down

-- Once I turn 21, get my license (straight to greens yee), followed by motorcycle licence
HAHA no

-- Stop procrastinating and get a violin. And, y'know, learn how to play it
Ah shit I forgot

-- Work on making my lisp/rhotacism a bit more comprehensible
Not entirely but satisfied with progress!

-- Make sure the first name my nephew says is my name
Yes!

-- Continue seeing my psych in a consistent fashion
Also yes!

It's unrealistic to expect myself to keep all of these, but if I can keep at least half, I'll be content :)

I'd consider that a successful year.

As for my 2020 resolutions:

— Get my license. I'm 21 now, so straight to green P's

— Find a consistent hobby I can keep at. I tend to find them, becomes obsessed for a bit, then stop once life gets in the way

— Teach my eldest nephew to ride a bike. He's 2 now and he can ride straight and turn a bit with training wheels on so it's possible!

— Put myself first when necessary

— h i t t h e g y m m o r e

1. Find a job that I enjoy
2. Learn how to better handle money and save
3. Spend more time with my mates and my family
4. Maintain a healthy lifestyle and work harder at the gym
5. Get good grades at uni, apply myself and figure out a career path
6. Most importantly, work on my happiness and stick to the good people in my life whilst kicking out the toxic ones

Last year I didn't really have much of a formal new years resolution other than to read more books.
Unfortunately said increased rate of book readerization has not taken place this year, meaning I have failed 2019. I believe this then means that I cannot pass on into 2020 and have to repeat 2019 until I pass it. I'm not sure how this works - whether I travel back in time to the start of 2019 or If I live in on 2019 while everyone else is in 2020. If anyone has any experience with these, please feel free to clarify

When I do get to 2020, my resolutions will be to:
 - move out of home (hopefully before uni starts in late Feb)
 - Become a better teacher
 - Become a better cook (I can't really cook anything without a recipe)
 - Get good a rock climbing

I really want to make this year my year (same for this decade), so this post took a bit of thought.

Academic/educational resolutions for 2020:
- Achieve an ATAR I am happy with (I'm debating whether or not I want to state my ATAR goals - just incase I get disappointed come the end of this year)
- Revise content every week
- Study German at least twice a week
- Feel more confident in my ability in my subjects
- Attend more open forums and science lectures

Academic/educational resolutions for the decade:
- Study secondary education at the University of Queensland
- Graduate from uni
- Become at least semi-fluent in German
- Become a tutor

Personal/other resolutions for 2020:
- Get a job at the end of the year
- Finish learning Nuvole Bianche, Penn Ar Roch, and Requiem for a Dream on the piano
- Get back into sport (participate in rugby and touch again)
- Use my school leadership role to make a positive difference in the lives of my peers and members of my school community
- Read at least 12 books this year (I am counting texts for English and subject textbooks)
- Exercise more??? (maybe not...)
- Work on positive self-talk

Personal/other resolutions for the decade:
- Travel to Germany
- Volunteer more

EDIT: Forgot to add "get my Ps" as a 2020 resolution ;D

Well to be frank whenever I make a set of new years resolution's I pretty much always end up forgetting or never end up doing them, so actually writing them down on a public forum is going to 'hopefully' keep me accountable

Academic/educational resolutions for 2020:
- Achieve an ATAR I am happy with ( also debating like K.Smithy)
- Have a consistent study schedule
- Do at least an hour of Methods work every night
- Contribute more on the Psychology Question Thread
- Get into either Science or Biomedicine at UoM

Personal/Other resolutions for 2020:
- Get a job at the end of year 12 (not in a fast-food franchise - never going back there again)
- Have driven at least 65-70 hours
-Volunteer at an animal shelter and a hospital
- Do at least 6 hours of intense physical activity a week

ok well, these resolutions seem quite realistic and achievable so hopefully, I can stick to most if not all  :)

I achieved most of my resolutions for 2019 (except for being more physically active, I kinda gave up on that one :-\).

Goals for 2020:

- Do some form of exercise every day
- Drink At Least 1.5L of Water Daily
- Eat Less Junk Food, Create Good Eating Habits
- Get 7-8 Hours of Sleep Everyday
- Read 24 Books (Self-Help, Fiction, Non-Fiction e.t.c)
- Become More Organised with Schoolwork, never leave anything to the last minute
- Get Good Grades in School
- Get A Job / Get Work Experience
- Try and Figure out Which VCE Subjects to Pick

Hopefully, I can accomplish some of these goals and enjoy my final year before VCE starts.

Definitely not a real New Years Resolution since I have been doing it since November/December 2019 but I would like to read a bunch of classics this year. Not sure how many though.
