Damn English bid is fucked :(. Honestly don't know what goes through the mind of the British media sometimes, broadcasting the Panaroma investigation 3 days before the vote. Idiots.

Agreed. Yet they're still in with a good chance for 2018 - if they can get to the third round they will be in a great position. Have you signed up to our bid?
Do you have any connection with England?Damn English bid is fucked :(. Honestly don't know what goes through the mind of the British media sometimes, broadcasting the Panaroma investigation 3 days before the vote. Idiots.

Manchester until I was 12, then a couple of years in LondonLot of snow up there atm. There's a bit here, might be worth a photo by midnight :D
I really hope Australia gets to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
As for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, I think England will also win. They have a lot of pulling power and it is considered as the "home of football" - England is steeped in football history - from Bobby Robson to David Beckham.
Also, with Russia - going from what I've seen on UEFA Champions League football (on TV), it seems pretty cold there - like -10 degrees or something. :P
Am nervous as shit for this guys,
we better get it...
Don'y have Facebook mate, I get emails from Ben Buckley all the time, I've signed up to heaps of crap supporting our bid.
I've supported the game since I was 6 years old sitting on the grandstand watching NSL games. There is no one who wants this more than me...
Our final 30min presentation is tonight, 11.50pm. It will be aired live on the hearldsun website. Do yourselves a favour and watch it!

^^ It's well worth the wait mate.Bigger than Sydney 2000!
Will be the biggest event in this country's history!
A cumulative total of 26 billion people, an average of approximately 400 million viewers watched per match. FIFA estimated that around 700 million viewers watched the World Cup final.
Manchester until I was 12, then a couple of years in LondonWhat kind of accent do you have? :)

Mine is normally standard home counties, but if I try to loosen my vowels, it comes out as an odd hybrid of English and Australian, or so people tell me.Manchester until I was 12, then a couple of years in LondonWhat kind of accent do you have? :)
Lol it's mostly a Manc one, albeit not very strong. I guess it's been a little affected London and Ausralia, but not as much as you'd expect.
How're you enjoying the snow back home then?

Snow is off and on atm, there was a nice cover of it last night though, reflected by the streetlights. And there's always the risk of only a few snowflakes stultifying the public transport systems.
Where do your tribal footballing allegiances lie then?
only hours (if that) to Judgement Day for 2018...

Domestically I support Man United (gotta be the only one on VN who's not a glory supporter), internationally England (and Israel)
Unconfirmed report: Al Jazeera has revealed that Qatar will be announced host for 2022 World Cup.
Edit: Also, official FIFA announcements have been delayed.
But hey, it wouldn't be the first time they screwed us (think back to 06 WC dive penalty)

That was a legit penalty *folds arms*
^^
How can you say that man? I personally think Italy is one of the best teams to watch if you can get over their diving and general cunning antics. They defend so well, attack like clockwork. It's beautiful to watch.
I don't know, I get over it. I follow the English game and diving is not so common over there. Yeh it can get annoying, but I think the Italian national representation - their diving = one of the best teams to watch in the world.
La Liga = total shite. It's a complete non competition. Last year, the 4th placed team was closer to being relegated than it was to winning the league. Barca and Madrid are just so far ahead of the competition, it's ridiculous. No other Spanish teams do well in Europe these days, because no other Spanish team is any good.
Watching La Liga football, other than Barca and Real, is painful.

I agree with that entirely. It's more evenly spread in the EPL, you have smaller teams that can beat the so-called "bigger" teams (i.e. MU, Chelsea, Arsenal etc). In La Liga, that's less likely to occur. Also with La Liga, I think FCB and Real Madrid hold/have the majority of TV rights - gaining revenue from broadcasting etc, whereas in the EPL - all clubs are given a fair share of the revenue earned.
Not true, the Premiership has a sliding scale system, higher you finish, more money you make from TV and that kinda stuff. I saw David Gill talking about this in an interview.

93-2000 was 10 years ago. Right now, the EPL has never been more competitive, as shown by the number of points dropped by the top teams. In addition, I find that the lower teams in the EPL, the likes of Villa, Bolton, Blackburn etc play far more exciting and attractive football than the lower teams in La Liga, whose football tends to be incredibly slow and unimaginative.
French football has come off the boil a bit. Their league may have become more competitive recently, but there are no French teams making headlines in Europe these days. Interestingly this has cononcided with the French national team falling to pieces.I think their world cup debacle was directly attributable to a coach who combined the diplomatic skills of Idi Amin with the tactical nous of Andre Maginot. They'll be fine under Blanc.

LOL. Don't get me started. They (FIFA or the ref, cannot remember) even apologied for it afterwards.
I have Italian heritage and I cannot stand their football team anymore.
The French teams in the UCL rarely do well, the exception being last season where Lyon reached the Semi-final - other than that, they generally can't get past the Round of 16. The former powerhouses of French football - i.e. Bordeaux, Lyon have fallen off - lost key players and all. Marseille have always been there and there abouts. It's interesting now as Stade Rennais FC are currently top, which most people wouldn't expect to see. Bordeaux currently sit 10th. The end to Lyon dominating was bound to come - these things are cyclical.Teams from small towns seem to do well in French football; in England, most towns the size of Auxerre, Sedan, Rennes and Troyes don't even have professional sides
Sneijder should be there over IniestaIniesta > Xavi
Him and Robben are very good but unfortunately there are only three places and you can't beat the Holy Trinity these days ;)
