Title: 45+ in Bio
Post by: Ethereal Lights on November 12, 2017, 10:20:29 am
Hi,
I'm very stressed about my bio score, so any help would be very much appreciated. Assuming rank 1 or 2 in a pretty good cohort, what would be the exam mark someone would need to get a 45+ or a 50 in bio, considering the difficulty of the exam?
Thanks
:)

I got 45 in bio last year and lost 9 marks on the exam so I'd say this year you could potentially get 45 with ~110/120. For 50 you'd probably need ~117/120.

Can confirm- got 49 for bio last year and lost 4 marks total. Generally speaking, two marks separates one SS from the next at the top range- 110/120 sounds fairly reasonable for a 45. This year's exam seemed to be on the challenging side though; I wouldn't be surprised if the cutoff were 1-2 marks lower.

Don't be stressed! If you're rank 1-2 then you must be pretty damn good at what you're doing. Good luck and all the best!!

I'm not very gifted at knowing the exact scores needed, but I can tell you that I was rank 1 in a weak cohort & had been missing only a couple of marks in each practice exam.

I was only aiming for an A but my confidence kept dropping as I waited for Dec 12. Try and fill up your time with other pursuits and avoid trying to remember what you answered and comparing that with suggestions;  you can't change things now and it is likely to just stress you more

I was also highly stressed, and thought I didn't do too well - I was ranked first. Ended up with a 48 :) You will be fine.

You can get a statement of marks from VCAA (costs about $10) and it tells you how many marks you got for each question and your overall marks.
