Hey goize, around when do subject results come out? 2 weeks ish from exam am I right?
Moderator action: split and merged from UoM General Chat, please keep riveting exam discussion in one place so that people can continue to ask general UoM questions
-
The official FB page says 4th of December.
-
Hey goize, around when do subject results come out? 2 weeks ish from exam am I right?
4th december the latest but could be before then
-
They should be gradually released from (roughly) around now until about a week before the final release date, at least based on the past few years :V
-
My WAM has changed, but none of my results from this semester have come out yet :o
Manually calculating my WAM based on my previous results gives a different WAM than what's being displayed ???

Yeah, that's a thing now - your WAM updates before the results become visible
-
Yeah, that's a thing now - your WAM updates before the results become visible
Means I can calculate what I got! How long until the real result is released?
-
Means I can calculate what I got! How long until the real result is released?
Probably depends on the subject, I'd guess not more than a couple of days, possibly much sooner.
-
Fuck.. I think I barely failed Chemistry (48). Can anyone confirm if it got updated?
Hey man, I did chemistry 2 and I just checked my WAM it has not updated. So they haven't come out yet, don't stress!
-
Fuck.. I think I barely failed Chemistry (48). Can anyone confirm if it got updated?
This is either going to be good news or bad news but if you're talking about Chem 2, my WAM hasn't changed so I'm fairly sure it's not Chem
-
Yeah bad news LOL. That means I failed something else, unless 2+ of my subjects got released at once. I'm pretty sure I did awful in chem so that might even be 2 fails.
RMIT here I come..
Head up man you're still not sure.
I reckon just relax the next couple of weeks, don't look at that results page until results actually come out. It's just going to stress you out more and more if you keep checking your WAM.
You are still not sure how you do you, results may even exceed expectations so don't worry. And if you don't do as well as you wanted maybe try and figure out what went wrong, and plan next semester accordingly. Do subjects you like and are good at.
For now I'm just trying to really enjoy this break and not think about results I think you should too!
-
Once again I have noticed a change in WAM and it looks like one subject score was uploaded, and without knowing exactly which subject it was from I am torn between feeling great (higher than I expected) and also shattered (lower than i was hoping) and I think this situation is overall worse than if I had waited until all results were out to start checking.
-
no results so far and I don't know how I feel about this
-
no results so far and I don't know how I feel about this
Same here ugh! I'd have expected Psych to be out since it was the first exam Nov 2 and it's all MC.
-
I just need to know that I passed Linear Algebra idec if it was exactly 50 I just hope I passed it and can be done w/ it :'(
-
Any fellow Maths students know when those results will be released? In the past all maths marks were made available on the same day.
-

Well, they did have to remove a couple questions due to mistakes writing the exam. Maybe that's what's taking so long :p
(and they were the easiest questions too >.<)
-

Well Stochastic Modelling is out for me already (as in, visibly listed), but it doesn't look like Statistics scores have been uploaded at all.

either intro macro or chinese 2 just came out can anyone confirm which it is?
-

Can't be intro macro, mine wasn't updated.
-
Can't be intro macro, mine wasn't updated.
cheers haha i was in one of those "im either pretty happy or pretty upset" situations and if its my chinese score then im pretty happy with it :P
-
Anybody else not have WAM change at all yet? I thought I'd have PHYS30001 back now since there's no exam (only a 15% assignment was due in swotvac).
-

Nothing for me buddy! :(
-
My WAM increased from 72.25 to 76 and it says "This was calculated on 18 november." But no semester 2 results have been released :S Anyone else having this issue?
-
does anyone know if extension studies (UMEP) contributes to the wam calculation? :3
-

Yeah, happened to me too. Apparently it's a normal thing to happen
-
does anyone know if extension studies (UMEP) contributes to the wam calculation? :3
yeah they are taken into account
-

They are, but only if
- you apply for advanced standing (which everyone does in general, otherwise you're not taking advantage of the extra credit that you could have) and
- it's not maths.
I can only guess that maths is the exception since it's the only UMEP area where the "subject" you take for the UMEP program is specifically tweaked and engineered for the UMEP program, rather than being an actual university subject. In all the other UMEP areas (biology, chemistry, economics, etc.), each of the 2 semesters is spent completing an actual university subject, whereas in UMEP maths you do a "subject" that's only really similar to an actual university maths subject (MAST10008 Accelerated Mathematics 1 if you're interested), and it takes the whole year instead of 1 semester.
I did UMEP maths, and, for me, on my BCom study plan I have MAST10008 Accelerated Mathematics 1 listed as "exempt"; there's no score there and manual calculation of my WAM shows that my UMEP maths score doesn't count towards my BCom WAM. While I have completed 13 of my BCom subjects, only 12 scores are used to calculate my BCom WAM.

Did ESD2 results just get updated?
-
I think either BLAW or intro macro results were updated, can anyone confirm?
-
still nothing :(
-
I think either BLAW or intro macro results were updated, can anyone confirm?
I did Intro Macro and my WAM hasn't changed.
-
I did Intro Macro and my WAM hasn't changed.
Oh bugger, yeah it must be BLAW then :/

Glad to know I just passed my last chem unit for undergrad! ;D

not finance 1

My WAM just updated - could be any of MAST20022, MAST20030, PHYC20011, or LING20006. Anyone who can give me a hint? :D
-

Probably not LING20006, since mine has not changed.
-

I highly suspect its MAST20022 as I don't take any of yours except that but mine changed today. On the other hand, it could be that the math department is updating/uploading all of their grades today.
-

Yes I have heard eng math came out today too
Hope they also release real analysis!

I do MAST20030 and my WAM changed too! Although I'm expecting my breadth (EVSC30005) to be released about now too and the score I calculated seems more likely to be my breadth than DEs.
-
Anyone who did Frontiers, drugs affecting the nervous system or SMCF had their WAM change?
-
Anyone who did Frontiers, drugs affecting the nervous system or SMCF had their WAM change?
No WAM change here.
-
No WAM change here.
I knew that thinking I got a H1 in Frontiers was pathetic wishful thinking lol...
-
You don't know yet :P I did SMCF and no wam change. H1 for Drugs?
-
You don't know yet :P I did SMCF and no wam change. H1 for Drugs?
Nah, probably just my breadth then!
-
Anyone who did Frontiers, drugs affecting the nervous system or SMCF had their WAM change?
I did the same subjects and had a WAM change too! pretty sure it's my breadth as well :(
-
I believe either APA, IFA or intro macro scores were updated? can anyone confirm
-
I believe either APA, IFA or intro macro scores were updated? can anyone confirm
I took the same subjects and QM2 as well. My WAM has changed
-
I believe either APA, IFA or intro macro scores were updated? can anyone confirm
not macro

not macro
then i believe it is APA since it was on the first day
-
then i believe it is APA since it was on the first day
Yeah that sounds about right, I hope it's APA
-
I believe either APA, IFA or intro macro scores were updated? can anyone confirm
not ifa1
-
With collaboration I've determined that GENE20002 scores are causing WAM changes, so their release must be imminent.
-
My WAM changed - I know it wasn't syntax, since I utterly bombed the exam due to time constraints, so it must be either repro phys or dev bio. A bit of a long shot, but can anyone who took either confirm which one?
-
Ah those feelings when my WAM goes up for what I assume was GENE20002, then next morning bombs down for what I am certain was Chem: structure and properties :P
EDIT: Genes and Genomes is out now officially
-
I did the same subjects and had a WAM change too! pretty sure it's my breadth as well :(
My mate did phrm30002 and his wam changed :) For him it's either that or visual neuroscience
Ah 1st wam change - think it's phys30001, anyone confirm ?
-
Ah those feelings when my WAM goes up for what I assume was GENE20002, then next morning bombs down for what I am certain was Chem: structure and properties :P
EDIT: Genes and Genomes is out now officially
lol my WAM went down for GENE20002 and the result is equal with CHEM10006 as the worst subject on my transcript. Probably indicative of the level of effort I put in haha. I just hope my other two results are not significantly worse. :P
-
My mate did phrm30002 and his wam changed :) For him it's either that or visual neuroscience <-- I reckon this one
-
Whee, another WAM change - hoping it's LING20006, but could be MAST20030 or PHYC20011.
EDIT: Just checked LMS, exam marks are up for LING20006, but it doesn't match my WAM at all, so I'm still in the dark a bit
-
WAM change - probably too high to be due to anything except COMP30026 Models of Computation, in which case i'm a little sad because I was going for higher.
But let me know if anyone doing MAST20026 Real Analysis or SWEN20003 Object Oriented Software Development also saw a change because who knows!
-
All these wam changes and I'm still waiting for things back from week 6 and 10!
-
mine changed and depending on what it is it's either really good or really bad D: edit: never mind it's really bad. so guessing BIOL10005
-
Hmm my wam changed again . Not sure maths for biomed or phyc10006 . Results for biol10003 came out.
-
I think BIOL10005 results are out!
-
Didn't BIOL10003 marks get updated on the 23rd? ???
-
I believe that most, if not all, maths results have been released now.
-
Didn't BIOL10003 marks get updated on the 23rd? ???
Oh for me only my wam changed on the 23rd so wasn't sure which subject.
-
Anyone else who did Thinking Scientifically WAM's change?
ya my wam changed twice this morning, but pretty sure it's not TS. Because exam marks are uploaded on My Grades you can actually calculate what you got for the subject rn.
-
Oh for me only my wam changed on the 23rd so wasn't sure which subject.
Yeah I just double-checked, the WAM got updated on the 23rd but the official result is out now.
-
I believe that most, if not all, maths results have been released now.
Can confirm
-
anyone for mbb2 or flora fauna have it just change?
-
Ohhhhhhhhh I didn't know that thanks for telling me!!!!
What if there's scaling and stuff though? :P
haha true that. there could be scaling :P
-
anyone for mbb2 or flora fauna have it just change?
I heard flora and fauna was released :)
Good Luck!!!
-
I heard flora and fauna was released :)
Good Luck!!!
Yes can confirm this. Genetics was released this morning then flora and fauna.
Good luck!
-
mine changed and depending on what it is it's either really good or really bad D: edit: never mind it's really bad. so guessing BIOL10005
I know the feeling. I can have my WAM change a lot and it can still mean a good BIOM20002 result, but a small decrease in my WAM could be bad if it's due to MIIM20002 (this is due to the 12.5 vs 25 credit point thing). :S
-
anyone for mbb2 or flora fauna have it just change?
No MBB2 yet :/ so stupid how a MC exam done very early on in exam period is my last result. Thanks to the incompetent Psych department.
-
No MBB2 for me, either.
-
Anyone doing intro macro excluding mgmt, mktg and blaw2 had their WAM change?
-
Anyone doing intro macro excluding mgmt, mktg and blaw2 had their WAM change?
Just confirmed with a few mates macro came out today
-
anyone know what the 'average' WAM is across unimelb? like what most people get?
-
another change! two in one day, i think this one might have been MAST20026 Real Analysis? If my guesses have been right so far then the last one that comes out for me is going to be object-oriented which should be my lowest score ever and bring down my average quite a bit, so i'm gonna enjoy this peak-of-my-degree average while it lasts :)
-

HOLY SHIT
IT JUST CHANGED AGAIN - 3rd time today
one of the scores i already got earlier today must have been object oriented... and the score i thought was for models of computation because it was too high to be anything else, it just must have been something else?
I literally just calculated like 'what if, just no way this is possible but what if, that score from before wasnt models, what if it was something else and i really DID manage to get a 100 in models, what would that make my WAM overall?' and I calculated it then refreshed the page and IT WAS THERE!
I think I got a 100!
-
Anyone doing ECON20001 Inter Macro or ECON20005 Competition and Strategy? My WAM got updated this afternoon and I don't know which one it was.
-
maths for biomed is out
-
anyone know what the 'average' WAM is across unimelb? like what most people get?
One of my tutors said that 70 is around average for most subjects, but I'd take that with a grain of salt. I don't think anyone really knows for sure haha
I think I got a 100!
Wtf how is that even humanly possible?? Shit dude, congrats!
-
anyone know what the 'average' WAM is across unimelb? like what most people get?
I know one 'goal' that departments are supposed to go for is to have <=20% of students get H1, and they get in trouble if one year they make an exam too easy or something and they have to ramp up the difficulty next time. There are maybe other measures/goals like failure rates and stuff but i have no info on these.
As far as I know, some departments also scale results towards goals like these i suppose, but I don't think that's the case for all subjects because a lecturer this year mentioned that they don't scale results in that subject.
Wtf how is that even humanly possible?? Shit dude, congrats!
Thanks i'm stoked! Take a subject that just resonates with everything you know and love, for me that's theoretical computer science. This subject has been an absolute blast.
-
Syntax should be updated by now.
-
I think I got a 100!
nice work you absolute legend that is some next level shit congrats!! ;D
-
Syntax should be updated by now.
My WAM dropped quite a bit, and it matches my LMS mark, so it's definitely been put into the system. Second-worst exam mark and experience ever (after my half-blank Calculus 1 exam), but I scraped an 81 overall thanks to my decent assignment scores. I really object to the idea of a sit-down exam for Syntax. A take-home would have been so much more appropriate.
Also had a 92 in repro phys appear just now!! ::)
Didn't do as well as expected on the 40% exam, so I must have fudged the MCQ. Nothing like the days of 100% botany, but it was a tough subject and I'm happy :)
@silverpixeli: congrats on your 100!! And congrats to everyone else who's satisfied with their marks :)

Yep, syntax was a nightmare night-hag of an exam. Simply horrible. Good work on the repro phys - at least your score in that somewhat makes up for syntax.
The thing is that syntax used to have a take home exam. Not sure why they thought it would be better to have it with timed conditions (it makes zero sense to me).

Haha, I know you did better than me, but I hope your other marks are good as well :) Seeing the word "night hag" actually makes me feel slightly unwell after its appearance in two of the subject's assessments :'(
I really don't understand why they changed it either. I know the coordinator used to be different, so maybe the change just reflects Peter's own personal educational philosophy. What annoys me is that the handbook for this year said it was a take-home exam too; I swapped into the subject late, so once I realised it was sit-down, I couldn't've swapped into another breadth even if I'd wanted to. I felt really prepared to destroy a take-home by the end of SWOTVAC - I reckon I would have been able to get at least a score in the high 80s with a bit of knuckling down and focus after all the preparation I did. Maybe that's exactly why they got rid of the take-home; final scores being too high? They could always moderate the final results, or mark them more strictly, so there really isn't a good reason to make such an involved subject, in which intuition is discouraged, half-weighted on a time-intensive and complicated exam. I knew how to do everything on the exam, but under time pressure it really isn't feasible to do anything other than rely on your speaker intuition and race through the paper. I and two other people emailed Peter and his response was basically just that since people did relatively well on the exam, he wasn't going to reconsider it. So be warned, any future syntax students!
-
I think I got a 100!
OMG SILVERPIXELIIII U R ABSOLUTEEEELYY AMAZING!!!!!! Such an inspiration to everyone on AN!!!!
CONGRATS FOR THIS BEAST OF A SCORE!!!!!!
-
I think I got a 100!
...........tsk tsk.... Looks like someone's getting on the dean's list :P. And possibly receive the medal for bachelor of science!
Congratulations bro so happy for you!
-
Just confirmed with a few mates macro came out today
did intro macro, but no change in my wam
-
lol my WAM went down for GENE20002 and the result is equal with CHEM10006 as the worst subject on my transcript. Probably indicative of the level of effort I put in haha. I just hope my other two results are not significantly worse. :P
My study for GENE20002 was from 10am-3pm the day of the exam...and it's somehow my highest subject this semester?
-
did intro macro, but no change in my wam
yeah soz it looks like it was principles of mgmt not macro, my apologies guys
-
Anyone have any idea what the likely requirements are for the women in engineering scholarship? Like expected grade average etc.
-
mine changed again? mbb2?
-
My study for GENE20002 was from 10am-3pm the day of the exam...and it's somehow my highest subject this semester?
My study plan was something along the same lines... I had much bigger fish to fry.
-
Many changing WAMs these last few days.
In terms of my subjects, Stochastic Modelling, Financial Mathematics II, Statistics, and Engineering Computation have at least had marks uploaded. Nothing for Intermediate Macroeconomics yet.
Best of luck for all your results! Congratulations on another hard semester of work!
-
After 3 updates my WAM went back to exactly what it was last semester lmao. I guess that's better than decreasing so I'm not complaining
I have no idea if ESD2 or Glee Singing has been added yet :o
-

Thanks for confirming (for me at least, a big sigh of relief), that my WAM change today was not for Inter Macro. ;D

Thanks i'm stoked! Take a subject that just resonates with everything you know and love, for me that's theoretical computer science. This subject has been an absolute blast.
Fuar man, what a beast! I really really wanted to take Models of Computation, but, alas, couldn't fit it in, not available for breadth, and not to mention there is apparently an additional hidden prerequisite in Design of Algorithms or Algorithms and Data Structures.
-
One of my tutors said that 70 is around average for most subjects, but I'd take that with a grain of salt. I don't think anyone really knows for sure haha
It's impossible to be able to generalise across the university, but yeah, most science subjects I've been in that put up average scores tend to be around the 70-75 mark.
I think it's set on a faculty level - I don't think the higher university administration is all that concerned with undergrad grade distributions.
-
That feel when your wam changes and you think you (relatively) smashed your worst subject, but you actually just did pretty shit in a better one :( LOL
-

Glee singing level 2 has been added to the Wam calculations. Not sure about the other levels though I would assume they would've been updated as well.

I feel like I may be one of the first to actually have all their results released, so I'll get the ball rolling on sharing :)
2015 July AGRI10039 Australia in the Wine World 2 88 H1 First Class Honours 12.500
2015 Semester 2 BCMB20003 Biochemical Regulation of Cell Function 1 80 H1 First Class Honours 12.500

2015 Semester 2 GENE20003 Experiments in Genetics 1 76 H2A Second Class Hons A 12.500
I PASSED CHEM! I PASSED IT WELL! I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED MY ANSWER TO ONE ENTIRE SECTION WAS "Why did you do this to me?" FOLLOWED BY "magic" THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME SCALING INVOLVED BUT YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Obviously I'm quite happy with my H1s, biochem was again a massive struggle of rote learning but was fine in the end. I fully recommend Wine to anybody searching for a breadth, especially if you like wine :P And I'm content with my experiments mark considering it is one of the least well co-ordinated subjects I have been in. But oh man being done with chem for undergrad is so uplifting, I am free as a bird! Hope everyone's results are turning out the way you want

Still in complete limbo over here, whoo!

My WAM changed for MBB2. Has it done so for anyone else?
-
My WAM changed for MBB2. Has it done so for anyone else?
I think so! (either that or my breadth)
-
Only two of mine have been officially released but I've been checking wam changes with other people so these should be right lol
2015 Semester 2 MECM10006 Introduction to Media Writing 83 H1 First Class Honours 12.500
2015 Semester 2 GERM10009 German 8 88 H1 First Class Honours 12.500

2015 Semester 2 ENGL10001 Modern and Contemporary Literature 75 H2A Second Class Hons A 12.500
Absolutely stoked with media writing! The marking was harsh as fuck but it was such an enjoyable subject. Definitely my favourite subject I've done at uni so far. I'm pretty surprised with psych and german tbh - I thought I'd fucked up the exams but they ended up being my best two marks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Overall I'm really happy with these three though.
As for lit, I'm just glad I scraped a H2A lol. I loved VCE English but lit was the fkn bane of my existence this sem.
Good luck to everyone! Hope you all smash it, and if not, dw brah Ps get degrees

Either Intro macro or IFA1 was updated into WAM...
-
Looks like intro macro is finally out lads
-
hey y'all. can anyone confirm if intro macro (or IFA) results have changed their wam? fingers crossed... ::)

From looking at my exam mark, there was definitely an insane amount of scaling applied to Syntax, haha.

hey y'all. can anyone confirm if intro macro (or IFA) results have changed their wam? fingers crossed... ::)
I think bother intro macro and IFA has been updated because my WAM changed twice
-
Yeah I did both PHRM30002 and NEUR30004, but my WAM only changed once today! For me it would make more sense for it to be PHRM30002 but who knows
-

Don't think it's IFA1, can someone confirm?
-
my WAM just updated just now. Twice today. so I guess it's for both NEUR30004 and PHRM30002
-
my WAM changed and had to be for BIOM30001 Frontiers in Biomedicine given my other 3 subject scores are out. Goodluck to everyone who had to endure this shitty subject.

Yeah, my WAM changed once, but when I looked at the calculations, the change must have included two subjects. I guess it's back to waiting then... Good luck for your results btw!

Thanks you too!! My WAM just changed like five minutes ago again. Could be for both of those subjects or maybe Frontiers in Biomed!

BIOM20002 results loaded and causing WAM changes... their release is imminent.
EDIT: It changed again, so I have a feeling MIIM20002 is also ready.

Yep, looks like MIIM have started loading results. WAM went down and then up.

MBB2 grades are out. I got 97. How is that possible?! I'm shocked!

2015 Semester 2 PSYC10004 Mind, Brain and Behaviour 2 1 81 S WH SP Exam 12.500
Disappointed to be honest. I did much better than last semester but fell over hurdles during exam time and it didn't even matter in the end so my WAM is almost the same. I think there might have been some scaling for LING10001? was expecting a H1 but might email and see what they say. Genetics I'm just glad I passed in the end :)

All I can say is that on the bright side you managed a H1 in PSYC10004 so you probably won't need to sit the supplementary exam! Well done on that result, despite the adversity you faced during exam time. :)
MIIM20002 results are available. I did better than I did in GENE20002. I'm flummoxed lol.

I believe IFA1 are now updated into wam, so I can calculate all my scores,
2015 Semester 2 BLAW10001 Principles of Business Law 90 H1 First Class Honours 12.500
2015 Semester 2 ACCT10002 Introductory Financial Accounting 77 H2A Second Class Hons A 12.500
2015 Semester 2 ACCT10003 Accounting Processes and Analysis 71 H2B Second Class Hons B 12.500
2015 Semester 2 ECON10003 Introductory Macroeconomics 78 H2A Second Class Hons A 12.500
Pretty unhappy overall with my scores. Generally I think my studying went unrewarded, especially for macro however thank god for BLAW (even though I wanted higher). I'm quite indifferent about my whole first year of university - on the bright side I've (just barely) maintained a H1 WAM. I'm scared about internships and grades required but this whole year was a huge learning curve for me, and I am hugely motivated to perform even better in second year.
-
Grades took a bit of a hit this semester - a bit disappointed I wasnt able to get as high as I used to but goodbye biomedicine nonetheless! (How Frontiers was higher than Viro and Techniques, I do not know..)

2015 Semester 2 MIIM30014 Medical Microbiology: Virology 2 95 H1 First Class Honours
Just the three to finish off undergrad :)
Didn't expect to get any higher for frontiers, tough subject! Pleasantly surprised with virology though, thought I'd dropped more marks on the short answers.

... And BIOM20002 results are out. :) Lol my lowest result yet - I'm keen to blame the subject itself, but deep down I know it's because of my weakness in anatomy. XD

all my results are out now. was hoping for a bit higher except for physics after i felt how the exams went but i guess they are good enough. my wam went up by 4 :D. 1st year done, 2 more years of biomed to go.

My lowest as well :-\ ...meaning that I got my lowest and highest mark yet this semester
I've never gotten a repeated numerical mark out of my whole two years of uni, I guess it shows I'm really inconsistent

if anyone ever asks you guys what the biggest wam change you've seen in the shortest time is, you now have an a good answer
20+ point increase in 5 months LMAO
got a little help from special consideration, but dont let that get in the way of a good story :P
-
Assuming you did the same number of subjects each semester, that's looking like a 95 average in semester 2, which is pretty impressive
-
Assuming you did the same number of subjects each semester, that's looking like a 95 average in semester 2, which is pretty impressive
haha i didnt do quite that well, a couple of subjects from first sem (including that 26 in accounting) got taken out of my wam calculation a few weeks into semester 2 (thanks special consideration) :P the real change was nothing near that drastic
still though, the change in calculation didnt happen early enough because i applied for a couple roles where i casually got asked what my average was/"how did you do in first sem" that didnt go too well.
just happy that my wam is a normal number now :P
everyone else on here seems to have done really well this semester too, good job guys !!
