Economics or Philosophy?

Hey, hope you guys doing well.
So, currently I am only doing 5 subjects: chemistry, physics, specialist, methods, and English. But I have the chance to do either philosophy or economics in year 11 (so no going back). I am not too sure which one to pick. I did philosophy in year 9 and it had its ups and downs honestly, some topics were extremely interesting while some were pretty dull. On the other hand, I don't really know how economics is going to feel like. I like both subjects equally to the point I don't really know which one to do. Would be interesting to know how year 11/12 economics/philosophy feels like.

While I didn't take either of those subjects myself, I do know of some people who took them. One of my uni friends took philosophy in high school and really really enjoyed it. One of my friends took economics, and while they were very good at it, hated it. But, everyone will be different. Some people hate a certain subject, while other people love it.

I would consider a few things:
- What do you want to do after school? And do any of these two subjects help you get there?
- Which are you most interested in? (have a look at the syllabus for each and see if you like the look of the content)
- What are the assessment pieces like in each subject?

From the looks of it, you have a pretty heavy workload, so it may be worthwhile consider the subject which won't significantly increase your workload.

On the note of year 9 philosophy having its ups and downs, you'll likely find this to be the case with most of your subjects in senior. Personally, I thought that Unit 1 and 2 were pretty bland for all of my subjects (except for psych and methods). But, I found unit 3 and 4 to be a lot more interesting. I do think, however, that maths is pretty consistently interesting as the content builds on itself over the two years.

So yeah, I would take into consideration those things above and try to decide from there. Maybe see if you can get in touch with people from your school who have taken the subjects in the last couple of years.
