Hi
I was just wondering if I failed IA1 in a science subject and passed IA2 would I still be able to get a satisfactory for unit 3 and also how would this affect my atar.

Thank you  :)

Hey Olivia._.livi,

I finished Grade 12 QCE last year and to my understanding, if you fail the whole unit , that's when you will be unsatisfactory for the whole subject. If you fail a single assessment within a unit, you may be able to average out if there is another assessment within that unit. In terms of how it will affect your ATAR, I won't be able to give a definitive answer for that but as obvious as it sounds, failing an assessment won't help you ATAR. Its impact on your ATAR also really depends on the scaling of your the subject you are talking about and also how well you do in your other subjects.

Sorry for the really vague answer but hopefully, you got something out of that.
