Okay so aside from textbooks, what item(s) would you consider essential for Year 12/VCE in general? :)
-
A life. Seriously! Enjoy turning 18 (unless you are a minnow who is so smart that they can start school before everyone else)
-
A brain :p
Haha, nah seriously I found my whiteboard really really helpful, just to plan my week out, especially during exam month!
-
Food and often colourful pens and highlighters helped me to enjoy my homework/studying more haha
-
Good diet and exercise. And good coping mechanisms.
-
A good study-buddy
-
- A decent diary (sometimes school ones don't suffice)
- A clean desk
- Wanting to do well (e.g. willing to use some recess times/ lunch times to consult teachers etc.)
- Confidence helps too
-
An ideal study environment (for me it was my desk). Absolutely essential.
-
Zero procrastination

A good study-buddy
TRUE. I want a study buddy, but all my close friends do subjects that are essentially "opposite" to mine :(

I would've said look on AN, but your subjects are kind of unique.
At least for English, you could study with your nossal-friends, but yeah Asian Five gives people a greater opportunity.

Confidence and luck.

Doesn't match the ques!
I think laptop and log in AN forum :)

Nothing special is needed; it is just another year of school.
-
It's helpful to have:
- A calendar, so you can plot all your SAC/exam/social dates
- A gym membership (that you'll actually use, of course :P ), otherwise you'll go stir-crazy
- A good paper-filing system
- Noise-cancelling headphones (if you can find them) - these are perfect for those who don't study with music, but can't stand the kids who talk incessantly in the Monash library. You know who you are.
Edit: Whiteboards are also really, really useful, as someone mentioned earlier.

Good stationery - nice exercise books, folders, pens :)

A pack of m&m's. there is no other better feeling than rewarding yourself for a solution in maths with m&m's :)

Toblerone. I don't know why, but I love Toblerone.
Edit: (a few months later...) Not anymore though. I'm addicted to snakes now...

i usually have a block of hazelnut chocolate in my house somewhere.
non food wise i have a group of friends i play mixed netball with, that's fun. :)
-
supportive family and friends.
And music and headphones if you don't have that :P
-
A dream.
-
Tea, lots of tea to keep you company.
And a timer, I always feel more productive if I work in 30 minute blocks with a 5-10 break.
-
Motivation.
Proper teacher who can actually teach
Asian parents do help in some ways too :P

If you have the first then you don't necessarily need the second :P

true that, but you have to self study a lot :) It's easier and faster if you got a good teacher then you can get the concept of things quicker.

I agree, but the point is it's not a must-have, you can still do well on your own (although yes it is harder).

yah fe, after all the topic was " must haves" hahaha my bad mate.
-
Good teacher, good school, altruistic friends.

A printer is a huge one in my opinion. Helps to be able to print out work, notes and extra material that you find online that can be of assistance. Especially if your like me and find it difficult to actually learn things of a screen as well as get sore eyes after an extended period of reading of a screen.
A laptop which isn't too heavy. People always tell me my MacBookAir's screen is too small but it's so much easier to carry around and that way if I ever need to take my laptop to school for a presentation or just for working during a free, I don't actually notice that I am carrying the laptop and it's way easier to carry around the hallways.
Extra resources. The text book is good but it really helps to have an extra resource to explain some of the topics that are harder to understand in different words to the textbook. Additional resources don't even have to cost money and can be in the form of getting notes from AN and/or friend/teacher as well as various websites, which don't even have to be targeted to VCE but just deal with relevant content.
A direction. You probably wouldn't have much motivation to study unless you have some direction.

How much was it? Kind see on the site and to view the cart I need to sign up for an account. Looks interesting.

$20 or so at Officeworks.

Coffee.

A genuine interest in the stuff you're learning.
Ambition
Belief in your abilities to do things
And one thing you certainly don't need: sookiness. If you don't go to the best school, if you don't have the best teachers, don't have the money for tutors, there are ways around this! As someone from that situation, who has been surrounded by people in that situation, I can definitely say that people still manage to achieve great things regardless. It's all up to you! :D
