Well as a uni student now, I was wondering what type of bags do students use?
Like messenger bags such as crumpler ones, country road bags or just the good old back pack?
I was thinking of a crumpler bag but not sure if it can fit all my books.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Someone else brought this up on BoS last year. Go for whatever suits you. If everyone has the same you'll all look like conforming idiots lol.
-
I wanna be one of those cool kids that use what everyone does :P such as in high school the typical country road bags :D
-
lol. I'm cool by nature so I don't have that problem :D
-
Country road bags suck.
Just bring whatever. I bring the good ol' back pack because it holds my stuff without lopsiding me.

exactly! when it comes to heavy books, the good ol' backpack will do the job best, without hurting your back, etc. ;)
otherwise, I like messenger bags, though I dont have one. LOL
-
Whatever works for your back.
Seriously, you'll be lugging it everywhere.
I kinda regret getting a messenger bag style bag. As it large enough to fit my laptop and probably enough supplies to last me two days (sans sleeping bag) - it can get verry heavy.
-
ok.. from what i heard from friends already at uni, you don't need to bring textbooks around. during lectures you have to write your own stuff and its not from textbook but from powerpoints and in tutorials just share someone's book. So i guess ill get a crumpler messenger bag then.
-
im gona use my red backpack that ive had since year10 lol
it has space for a laptop as well, so its all good.
-
Go waste a fortune and buy a Louis Vuitton bag.
-
So is it actually necessary to bring your text books to every lecture? Does the lecturer sometimes refer to certain pages which relate to the concepts they are explaining throughout the lecture?

I'm gonna use my grey/black backpack that I got in year 9 for our Grampians camp, with space for a laptop as well. It's been up and down mountains with me, on horseback, our Portsea retreat... gosh I never looked at a bag with nostalgia before.
Nick: I dont know if this is still relevant, but we hardly consulted our massive calculus textbooks during enhancement maths lectures. Occasionally it was pulled out for example questions, but not much else, apart from revision.

WHEEEEEEEELIE BAGS FTW

lol
Someone I met in Paris had a lighter made by Cartier

No.
But you might want to look at them afterwards in the library, perhaps?

my (older) sister uses a crumpler bag, it's pretty useful. plus it can fit two 6-packs :)
i usually just use a small back-pack with a single strap, seems to work fine.
one of my friends is really cheap, he just uses one of the cloth bags given for free in O-week ;D
-
I have a messenger bag that I've had for about a year. The pockets at the front look like jeans pockets 8)

Priorities are in order! Love it!

It's not even necessary to get the textbooks, especially in subjects that aren't heavily based on reading (non-law). Arts reading will usually have e-texts so you won't need to purchase them, and if you print them, it's light (just excerpts).

wouldn't the textbooks come with pdfs on a CD so you can just keep them on the laptop??
i'm gonna do that next year with yr12, me thinks it'll be a lot easier

man, everywhere i go i see people, especially asian people wear those country road bags. Don't follow the trend, you'll just look like a follower, give it a little class and buy something like a Le Coq Sportif large khaki bag or something.

Believe me, a shoulder bag will start hurting after a while. Best you go for the standard backpack style bag (with lots of support/cushioning).
-
i love those bags that hang around ur shoulder.. lyk those nice nike bags for instance.. dey look hot... im confused about bags as well.. i wanted those shoulder puffy bags coz it looks realli stylish but since im studying pharmaceutical sciences,, my subjects books will be extremely big n thick .. especially da bio books :S ... gotta look around n decide

i use a shoulder bag half the time...
but i generally go back to my room between classes to get books and stuff, so my bag's never too heavy. living on campus ftw! 8)

wouldn't they be quite heavy as well? because you have to hold all your textbooks with one hand...?

hehe...nah. Im not gonna bring textbooks with me to uni unless I really have to....
besides, i can always catch up with the reading in the uni library....
I have carried heaps of textbooks before in those kinds of bags and only once the bag broke (but that was a Jay Jays bag)..
